For resistance measurement, observe the data on the brake nameplate.
Trouble Possible cause Remedy
Brake does not release,
Air gap is not zero
Coil is interrupted Measure the resistance of the coil with a mulmeter:
Compare measured resistance with rated resistance.
If resistance is too high, replace the spring-applied brake completely
Coil has interturn fault or short
circuit to ground
Measure the resistance of the coil with a mulmeter:
Compare measured resistance with rated resistance.
If the resistance is too low, replace the stator completely.
Check coil for short circuit to ground with a mulmeter:
Replace the spring-applied brake completely in case of short circuit to
ground.
Wiring defecve or incorrect Check and correct wiring:
Check cable for connuity with a mulmeter.
Replace defecve cable.
Recer defecve or incorrect Measure the DC voltage at the recer with a mulmeter.
If DC voltage is zero:
Measure AC voltage at the recer.
If AC voltage is zero:
Switch on voltage
Check fuse
Check wiring
If AC voltage is ok:
Check recer
Replace defecve recer
Check coil for interturn fault or short circuit to ground
If the recer is repeatedly faulty, replace the spring-applied brake
completely, even if no interturn fault or short circuit to earth can be
measured. The error may only occur when the temperature rises.
Microswitch wired incorrectly Check and correct wiring of microswitch.
Microswitch incorrectly set Replace stator completely and complain to the manufacturer about the
seng of the microswitch.

Rotor thickness too small Rotor was not replaced in me Replace rotor
Voltage too high Brake voltage does not match
recer
Adjust recer and brake voltage to each other.
Voltage too low Brake voltage does not match
recer
Adjust recer and brake voltage to each other.
Diode in recer defecve Replace defecve recer with suitable undamaged recer
AC voltage is not mains voltage Fuse is missing or defecve Select a connecon where the fuse is not removed and is ok.
