MC-12HD Software Upgrade Instructions
1-5
The message “Verifying checksum” displays on the computer
while the software validates the download data. This process
lasts about 30 seconds.
•The messageExchanging file data” displays on the
computer.
•The messageRECEIVING DATA” displays on the MC-12HD
front panel, along with a percentage indicating the status of
the download.
At the same time, the message “Sending bytes” displays on
the computer.
When the download is complete, the message “Waiting for
MC-12HD to restart” displays on the computer.
The MC-12HD restarts and completes its initialization
sequence.
•The messageGetting version data from MC-12HD” displays
on the computer while the computer retrieves version data.
This process lasts about 2 minutes.
The computer attempts to send preserved user settings back
to the MC-12HD. If no user settings were preserved, the
computer sends factory-default settings to the MC-12HD.
The message “Sending configuration data to MC-12HD
displays on the computer while the computer downloads
preserved user settings to the MC-12HD. This process lasts
about 1 minute.
One of two messages display on the computer:
MC-12HD was successfully updated and previous configura-
tion was restored” displays if the “Skip Config Save” check-
box was NOT selected.
Update was successful. No config sent” displays if the “Skip
Config Save” checkbox WAS selected.
Note:
Do not attempt to use the MC-12HD until the message indicating
a successful update displays in the Updater window.
11. Click
OK to continue. The MC-12HD restarts.
When upgrading from previous versions, it can take the MC-
12HD as long as ten minutes to initialize and complete its
diagnostic procedure on the first restart.
Note:
It is only on the very first restart after upgrading from previous
versions that the MC-12HD takes an extended period of time to
initialize and complete its diagnostic procedure.
12. The message “Update and restoration of original configuration was
successful” displays in the Updater window. Click
Exit to exit the
updater.
Note:
The message referenced in step 10 displays on the computer even if
user settings are not preserved during the upgrade. When user
settings are not preserved, the upgrade kit downloads factory default
settings to the MC-12HD, treating these as “preserved user settings.”
13. Power off the MC-12HD with the rear panel power switch. Then,
disconnect the serial extension cable from the MC-12HD and the
computer.
14. Power the MC-12HD back on.
