FLANGE
Flange effects were originally created by simultaneously
playing back identical programs on two tape recorders,
then using hand pressure against the flange of the tape
reels to slow down first one machine, then the other. The
result was a series of changing phase cancellations and
reinforcements, with characteristic swishing, tunneling,
and fading sounds.
The stereo flanger has two 2-Tap delays - one per
channel. The first tap is fixed, and the second sweeps
past it. Mixing the two delay taps together creates the
flanging effect.
Set the Mix parameter to Wet to achieve the full flange
effect of these programs.
