The LEXIVON LX-771 Butane Micro Torch Multi-Function Tool Kit is a versatile and portable tool designed for various applications requiring a precise flame or heat source. This operating instruction manual provides comprehensive guidance on its function, technical specifications, usage, and maintenance.
Function Description:
The LX-771 is a butane-powered micro torch that serves as a multi-function tool. Its primary function is to generate a controlled flame for tasks such as soldering, heating, and other applications where a focused heat source is required. The kit includes various accessories that expand its functionality, allowing it to be used as a soldering iron, hot knife, hot blower, and deflector.
Important Technical Specifications:
- Fuel Type: Butane gas.
- Fuel Quality Requirement: Requires high-quality refined butane fuel only, refined at least 3 times. Using lower quality butane can lead to clogging and sputtering.
- Safety Features:
- Child Resistant Standard: Designed to meet U.S. CPSC Child Resistant Standard requirements.
- Safety Lever: Prevents accidental ignition. The flame cannot be ignited before the safety lever is released.
- Continuous Flame Lock: Allows for continuous operation without holding down the ignition button.
- Automatic Shut-off: In temporary working mode, the flame extinguishes immediately when the ignition button is released.
- Accessories Included:
- 7mm & 8mm Wrench: For attaching and detaching threaded tips.
- Sponge and Tray: For cleaning soldering tips.
- Hot Blower: For directing hot air.
- Head Catalyst: Required for use with soldering tips, hot knife, hot blower, and deflector.
- Hot Knife: For cutting and shaping materials.
- Standard Tip: A general-purpose soldering tip.
- Diagonal Tip - 3mm: A specialized soldering tip.
- Chisel Tip - 3mm: A specialized soldering tip.
- Deflector: For deflecting heat.
Usage Features:
- Gas Filling:
- Ensure the Continuous Flame Lock is in the "OFF" position before refilling.
- Insert the butane container nozzle vertically into the FILLING VALVE.
- Pump several times for best results.
- Stop filling immediately when gas starts to overflow.
- Wait at least 3 minutes after filling for fuel gas to stabilize before igniting.
- Caution: Do not overfill the gas tank, as this can cause igniting issues and erratic flame.
- Ignition:
- Move the SAFETY LEVER (under the IGNITION BUTTON) to the left and rotate it clockwise until it clicks into place.
- Push the IGNITION BUTTON to ignite the flame.
- The SAFETY LEVER will automatically spring back to the middle position after ignition.
- For temporary work, keep the IGNITION BUTTON pressed. The flame will extinguish when released.
- Continuous Flame Working:
- While the flame is on, move the CONTINUOUS FLAME LOCK (on the left of the torch, with the muzzle pointing away from your body) towards the IGNITION BUTTON to lock the flame.
- Flame Adjustment:
- Use the FLAME ADJUSTING LEVER (on the right of the torch) to control the flame length. Move left to decrease, right to increase.
- Shut Off:
- In temporary working mode, release the IGNITION BUTTON.
- In continuous running mode, move the CONTINUOUS FLAME LOCK towards the muzzle end to shut off the flame.
- Accessory Installation:
- Head Catalyst: Unscrew the Flame Guard nut, remove the Flame Guard. Slide the Head Catalyst into the Flame Guard (narrow end first). Place the Flame Guard with Head Catalyst back on and tighten the nut. The Head Catalyst is required for soldering tips, hot knife, hot blower, and deflector.
- Threaded Attachments (Tips): Thread the desired tip into the Head Catalyst. Tighten using the 7mm wrench while holding the Head Catalyst in place with the 8mm wrench. To remove, reverse the steps.
- Deflector: Slide the Deflector over the Head Catalyst until firmly attached. For more heat control, install the Hot Blower tip on the Head Catalyst before installing the Deflector.
Maintenance Features:
- Cooling: Always allow the unit to cool completely before removing or replacing any tips or accessories.
- Cleaning: The kit includes a sponge and tray for cleaning soldering tips.
- Storage: Ensure the unit is completely cool before storing.
Safety Warnings:
- Never point the torch at your face or body when igniting.
- Do not touch the flame guard when it is hot.
- Danger: Extremely flammable. Contents are under pressure.
- Contains flammable gas under pressure.
- Do not use near sparks or open flames.
- Do not puncture or incinerate the container.
- Do not store at temperatures above 120°F (50°C) or expose to prolonged sunlight.
- Keep out of the reach of children.
