D03. CHECK BRAKE FLUID
LEVEL
Visually check the fluid level through the res-
ervoir.
a ) Turn the engine switch off
b ) Depress the brake pedal more than 40
times.
c ) Check that the fluid level is at the “MAX“
line.
If the fulid level is low, replenish the brake
fluid reservoir with FMVSS No. 116 DOT 3
or SAE J1703 brake fluid and check for fluid
leaks.
Brake fluid level should be the "MAX" line
(within 5.0 mm [0.2 in.] below).

FLUID LEVEL
Visually check fluid level through the reser-
voir.
Full (when cold)
Add fluid (when cold)
Full (when hot)
Add fluid (when hot)
a ) If the fluid temperature is high (60 - 80
qC
[140 - 175
qF]), the reading should be in
the “hot“ range.
b ) If the fluid temperature is low (10 -
30 qC
[50 - 85
qF]), the reading should be in the
“cold“ range.
If the fulid level is low, replenish with auto-
matic transmission fluid DEXRON
