Overview

This document describes the Lifetime Big Stuff™ Two-Slide Swing Set, Model 91079, a residential playground system designed for children aged 3 to 12. The swing set is intended for outdoor use only and requires a level, well-drained surface with a minimum 6.6 ft (2.0 m) safety zone around all structures. Two or more adults are recommended for assembly.

Function Description:

The Big Stuff™ Two-Slide Swing Set provides a multi-activity play experience, featuring two slides, a swing bar with multiple swing positions, a mini-go-round, a climbing wall, and a chalkboard. The design allows for various play activities, promoting physical activity and imaginative play for children.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Model Number: 91079
  • Maximum Occupants: 10 children
  • Maximum Weight Capacity: 1000 lbs (454 kg)
  • Playset Dimensions: 13’ 9” (4.2 m) x 15’ 1” (4.6 m)
  • Recommended Play Area: 30’ 6” (9.3 m) x 28’ 3” (8.6 m)
  • Minimum Clearance for Swings (EN71 Standard): 350 mm (≈13.78 in.) from the ground
  • Maximum Fall Height: 236.2 cm (93 in.)
  • Recommended Surfacing Depth: Minimum 23 cm (9 in.) of wood mulch for the maximum fall height. Other surfacing materials (wood chips, fine sand, fine gravel, shredded rubber) have specific depth requirements based on fall height, as detailed in the Consumer Information Sheet.
  • Tools Required (not included unless indicated):
    • 3/16 in/po (≈5 mm) Allen wrench (x2)
    • 1/2 in/po (≈13 mm) wrench (x1)
    • 3/8 in/po (≈10 mm) drill bit (optional, for slide assembly)
    • 1/4 in/po (≈7 mm) drill bit (optional, for climbing wall assembly)
    • Rubber mallet (optional, for inserting plugs)
    • Screwdriver (#3 Phillips head)
    • Wrench (7/16 in/po (≈11 mm))

Usage Features:

  • Safety Zone: Requires a clear area around the playset, free from structures or obstructions like fences, garages, houses, overhanging branches, laundry lines, or electrical wires. The clearance in front of and behind swings should be at least twice the height of the swing bar.
  • Ground Preparation: Must be installed on level, well-drained ground. Hard surfaces like concrete, asphalt, packed earth, grass, or carpet are not suitable due to the risk of serious head injury or death from falls. Loose-fill protective surfacing materials (e.g., wood mulch, wood chips, sand, gravel, shredded rubber) are recommended and must be maintained at specified depths.
  • Adult Supervision: On-site adult supervision is required for children of all ages.
  • Safe Play Practices:
    • Children should not walk near moving parts.
    • The equipment should not be moved while in use.
    • Swing chains/ropes should not be twisted or looped over the top support bar.
    • Empty seats should not be swung.
    • Children should sit in the center of swings with their full weight.
    • Equipment should not be used in unintended ways or dismounted while in motion.
    • Appropriate attire, including well-fitting, full-foot enclosing footwear, is crucial to prevent entanglement and strangulation hazards (e.g., no ponchos, scarves, jackets with neck drawstrings, cord-connected items, helmets with straps, clogs, flip-flops, sandals).
    • Children should remove bike or sports helmets before playing.
    • Play is not recommended when the equipment is wet.
    • No unauthorized items (e.g., jump ropes, clothesline, pet leashes, cables, chains) should be attached to the equipment.
    • Suspended climbing ropes, chains, or cables must be secured at both ends.
  • Slide Safety: Slides can become hot in direct sunlight; installation facing the sun is not recommended.
  • Mini-Go-Round: The Mini-Go-Round® can be moved up towards the deck to allow rebar placement and must be secured upright.
  • Steering Wheel: The steering wheel should be able to rotate freely and should not be overtightened during assembly.
  • Spider Swing: To attach the spider swing (EZZ), two units of swings or the trapeze must be removed. The spider swing must be hooked on the outer two pendulums.

Maintenance Features:

Routine checks and maintenance are essential to prevent overturning or hazards.

  • Beginning of Each Play Season:
    • Tighten all hardware.
    • Lubricate all metallic moving parts.
    • Check all protective coverings on bolts, pipes, edges, and corners; replace if loose, cracked, or missing.
    • Check all moving parts (swing seats, ropes, cables, chains) for wear, rust, or deterioration; contact customer service for replacements.
    • Check metal parts for rust; if found, sand and repaint with non-lead-based paint.
    • Reinstall any plastic parts removed for the cold season.
    • Rake and check the depth of loose-fill protective surfacing materials to prevent compaction and maintain appropriate depth; replace as necessary (refer to page 7 for depth requirements).
  • Twice a Month During Play Season:
    • Tighten all hardware.
    • Check all protective coverings; replace if loose, cracked, or missing.
    • Rake and check the depth of loose-fill protective surfacing materials; replace as necessary.
  • Once a Month During Play Season:
    • Lubricate all metallic moving parts.
    • Check all moving parts (swing seats, ropes, cables, chains) for wear, rust, or deterioration; contact customer service for replacements.
  • End of Each Play Season or When Temperature Drops Below 40°F (5°C):
    • Remove plastic swing seats and other items and store them indoors or do not use.
    • Rake and check the depth of loose-fill protective surfacing materials; replace as necessary.
    • If the warning sticker is illegible, destroyed, or removed, contact Customer Service for a replacement.
  • Disposal Instructions: Disassemble and dispose of the equipment to ensure no unreasonable hazards exist. Follow all local disposal requirements.

The manual also provides detailed assembly instructions with illustrations for each step, including specific hardware and parts required for different sections of the playset (A-frame, deck support, mini-go-round, deck, climbing wall/chalkboard, roof, slide, and swing assembly). It emphasizes the importance of not overtightening hardware to prevent damage and voiding the warranty.
