Note: It is possible to receive an alert when
there is no rear seat occupant, but alert
conditions are met.
Note: It is possible to receive no alert when
there is an occupant in the rear seat, if alert
conditions are not met. For example, if a rear
seat occupant does not enter the vehicle
through a rear door.
REAR OCCUPANT ALERT SYSTEM
SETTINGS
1. From the settings menu, press Vehicle.
2. Press Rear Occupant Alert.
3. Select Alert & Horn or Alert Only or Off.
Note: The default setting is Alert Only.
Note: If you choose Alert only, the horn does
not sound even when the alert conditions
are met.
Note: Performing a system reset causes the
system to switch on again.
Switching Child Seat Installed On and
Off
When the system is switched on, it monitors
the opening and closing of the rear doors to
indicate the potential presence of an
occupant in the rear seat.
1. From the settings menu, press Vehicle.
2. Press Rear Occupant Alert.
3. Switch Child Seat Installed on or off.
Note: The default setting is on.
Switch the system on when the child restraint
is mounted on any of the following:
Forward facing seat.
Rear facing seat.
Toddler in a LATCH system child seat.
Switch the system off when the child is using
any of the following:
Seatbelt.
Booster seat.
Semiannual Reminder
When you switch the system off, a message
appears every six months as a reminder that
the system is off. You can switch the system
back on or leave it off.
