WHAT IS CROSS TRAFFIC ALERT
The system is designed to alert you of road
users and traffic objects approaching from
the rear sides and from behind your vehicle
when you shift into reverse (R).
If you continue to reverse after the system
alerts you, the system is designed to apply
the brakes if it still detects approaching road
users or traffic objects. If the system applies
the brakes, a message appears in the
instrument cluster display.
Note: There could be instances when
unexpected or unwanted braking occurs.
You can override this by firmly pressing the
accelerator pedal.
HOW DOES CROSS TRAFFIC
ALERT WORK
Cross Traffic Alert is designed to detect road
users or traffic objects approaching above a
minimum speed of 5 mph (8 km/h). Coverage
can decrease when the sensors are partially,
mostly or fully obstructed.
The sensor on the left-hand side is only
partially obstructed and zone coverage on
the right-hand side is maximized.
Zone coverage also decreases when parking
at narrow angles. The sensor on the left-hand
side is mostly obstructed and zone coverage
on that side is severely reduced.
Note: Slowly reversing helps increase the
coverage area and effectiveness.
The system only applies the brakes for a
short period of time when an event occurs.
Take action as soon as you notice the system
applying the brakes in order to remain in
control of your vehicle, the system does not
do this for you.
CROSS TRAFFIC ALERT

controlling your vehicle at all times. The
system is designed to be an aid and does
not relieve you of your responsibility to
drive with due care and attention. Failure
to follow this instruction could result in the
loss of control of your vehicle, personal
injury or death.
WARNING: If damage occurs in the
immediate area surrounding the sensor,
have your vehicle checked as soon as
possible.
