MC
(Universal term) - Short for ‘Moving coil’. Refers to a type of Phono cartridge and to the Pre-amp input used
to listen to it. MC cartridges are usually the more expensive and better sounding of the two types of cartridge
available (the other type being Moving Magnet (MM)).
Mekk
(Karik, Mimik, Classik) - The Linn term for the CD mechanism - loads & plays the CD.
Melodik
Linn Bass-extension loudspeaker. Introduced 2001, replaced the AV5150 in our product range.
Micro-Switch
A general term meaning a small switch. In Linn terminology, this term is mainly (but not exclusively) used in
reference to the small switches used in the original type of Karik Mekk (fitted to Kariks < ser/no: 6000). There
were four fitted to this Mekk: one triggers when the drawer fully opens, one when the drawer fully closes, one
when the Jack has fully risen and one when the Jack has fully lowered. Often shortened to ‘uSwitch’

Linn CD Player. Introduced 1993.
MM
