This document serves as a quick start guide for the LINVER OTC RIC Hearing Aids, specifically the Mercury model. It covers essential information regarding the device's structure, operation, maintenance, and safety precautions.

Function Description

The LINVER OTC RIC Hearing Aid is a digital rechargeable Receiver-In-Canal (RIC) assistive instrument designed to compensate for hearing loss. It is suitable for individuals with conductive, sensorineural, and mixed-type hearing loss caused by conditions such as senility, tympanitis, and other diseases. The device aims to amplify sound to help users make greater use of their remaining hearing.

The hearing aid features:

Power ON/OFF: A slide button to turn the device on and off. When slid down, the hearing aid turns on, and amplification is enabled after 5 seconds. When slid up, the hearing aid turns off.
Volume Control/Program Switch: A button that allows users to adjust the volume and switch between different listening programs.
- Volume Control: Clicking the upper button increases volume, and clicking the bottom button decreases volume for the respective ear.
- Mode Switch: Holding the upper button for 2 seconds switches to the previous mode, and holding the bottom button for 2 seconds switches to the next mode for the respective ear.
Microphone: Captures sound from the environment.
Receiver: Delivers amplified sound into the ear canal.
Ear Domes: Replaceable tips that fit into the ear canal to direct sound and secure the device.
Shell: The main body of the hearing aid that houses the electronic components.

The device offers three distinct programs:

Usage Features

Charging:

Place hearing aids into the charging case; the case will automatically charge them.
Connect the charging case to any active charging port using the included Type-C charging cable.

Wearing:

Fit Ear Domes: Select appropriate earplugs based on ear canal size. Hold the earplugs and fit them into the connector of the hearing aid until securely in place. To remove, pinch the earplugs with thumb, index, and middle fingers to separate them from the connector.
Wear Hearing Aids: Hold the bottom of the tube with fingers and gently push the earplug into the ear canal.
Adjust Hearing Aids: Place the hearing aid behind the ear, close to the head, and comfortably over the pinna.
Remove Hearing Aids: Take off the hearing aids from behind the ears. Hold the bottom of the sound tube and pull gently until the earplug loosens, then remove it along with the hearing aid.

Safety Precautions:

Age Restriction: Not for users younger than 18. Individuals under 18 with hearing loss should consult an ENT.
Medical Consultation: Consult a doctor (preferably an ENT) if experiencing:
- Birth defect or unusual ear shape, or ear injury/deformation.
- Blood, pus, or fluid from the ear in the past 6 months.
- Pain or discomfort in the ear.
- Excessive earwax or feeling something in the ear.
- Dizziness, spinning, or swaying (vertigo).
- Sudden hearing change in the past 6 months, or hearing that gets worse then better.
- Worse hearing in one ear.
- Ringing or buzzing in only one ear.
Insertion: The hearing aid should not cause pain when inserting. If pain occurs, remove and re-insert carefully. If pain persists, contact the manufacturer or a hearing healthcare professional.
Over-amplification: In some acoustic environments, over-amplification can cause discomfort and damage to hearing.
Explosive/Oxygen-Enriched Areas: Do not use the hearing aid in such environments.
Allergic Reactions: If experiencing itching, redness, soreness, inflammation, or burning sensation in or around the ears, inform a hearing healthcare provider and physician.
Earwax Accumulation: Accelerated earwax accumulation is normal but consult a hearing healthcare provider if difficulties persist.
Parts in Ear Canal: If any part remains in the ear canal after removal, contact a physician immediately. Do not use tweezers or cotton swabs.
Medical Scans: Remove aids for CT, MRI, or other electromagnetic procedures.
Children/Pets: Keep hearing aids and batteries out of reach of small children and pets. If batteries are swallowed or inhaled, contact a poison control center.
Skin Irritation: If pain, inflammation, skin irritation, or earwax accumulation occurs, consult a hearing healthcare provider or physician.
Personalized Device: Hearing aids are adjusted for individual needs; do not share with others.
Not Hearing Protection: Remove the device in overly loud environments and use appropriate hearing protection instead.
Sound Output: If sound output is uncomfortably loud or painful, turn down the volume or remove the device. Consistent need to turn down volume may indicate a need for further adjustment.
Modification: Do not attempt to modify the shape of the hearing aid or slim tube yourself.
Connectivity: Only connect to equipment conforming to international safety standards if externally connected.
Hearing Rehabilitation: The use of a hearing aid is part of hearing rehabilitation and may require supplementary auditory training and lipreading.

Maintenance Features

General Cleaning:

Clean the hearing aid with a dry, soft cloth.
When cleaning, place the device on a soft desktop (e.g., a towel) to prevent damage from accidental falls.
CAUTION: Do not use any liquid to clean the hearing aid and charging box.

Ear Domes Maintenance:

Cleaning: Remove ear domes from the hearing aid. Clean earwax with a cleaning cloth or wash with clean water. Wipe dry, ensuring no water droplets remain. Blowing balloons can be used to dry water droplets.
Replacement: Hold the ear domes and sound tube connector with left and right hands respectively to separate them. Then fit new ear domes onto the connector.

Charging Box Maintenance:

Clean and maintain the charging boxes regularly.

Dehumidification:

Place the hearing aid in a special drying box every night to protect against moisture and extend its lifespan.
Remark: Special drying box needs to be purchased separately.
General Dehumidification: Any form of moisture affects the hearing aid. Dehumidification extends its life. Avoid use or storage in humid environments and dry the hearing aid regularly.

Water Prevention:

Avoid contact with water. Remove the hearing aid when swimming, showering, washing hair, or washing face.
If the hearing aid accidentally falls into water, do not use a dryer. Dry it with a soft, clean cotton cloth and place it in a ventilated environment. If a failure occurs, contact a local audiologist or customer service.

High Temperature Prevention:

Never expose hearing aids to extreme temperatures or prolonged sunlight.

Falling Prevention:

Do not drop hearing aids or knock them against hard surfaces.

Anti-vibration:

When not in use, store the hearing aid in a shockproof box or bag.

Earwax Management:

Earwax (cerumen) produced by the ears can accumulate in the ear canal and sound hole, affecting performance. Clean the ear canal and maintain the hearing aid regularly.

Troubleshooting Guide:

Whistling:
- Cause: Hearing aids not worn correctly. Solution: Wear correctly.
- Cause: Too much earwax. Solution: Clean earwax or contact an audiologist.
Silent:
- Cause: Power off. Solution: Turn it on.
- Cause: Low battery or no power. Solution: Charge the hearing aids.
- Cause: Dirt blocks the earplug or tube. Solution: Clean the hearing aids.
Small Sound:
- Cause: Low volume. Solution: Turn up the volume.
- Cause: Low battery. Solution: Charge the hearing aids.
- Cause: Hearing aid is damped. Solution: Dehumidify it with a dry box.
- Cause: Dirt blocks the earplug or tube. Solution: Clean the sound tube or earplugs.
High Power Consumption:
- Cause: Hearing aid is still on when not in use. Solution: Turn it off.
- Cause: Hearing aid is damped. Solution: Dehumidify it with a dry box.
Intermittent Sound:
- Cause: Dirt blocks the sound tube. Solution: Clean the sound tube.
- Cause: Dirt blocks the earplugs. Solution: Clean the earplugs.
