This document describes a steam iron, a household appliance designed for smoothing wrinkles from fabrics through the application of heat and steam. The iron is intended for domestic use and similar applications, such as staff kitchen areas in shops, offices, and other working environments, farmhouses, and by clients in hotels, motels, and bed and breakfast type environments.
Function Description
The primary function of this device is to iron clothes and other fabrics. It operates by heating a soleplate and, optionally, generating steam to aid in wrinkle removal. The iron offers both dry ironing and steam ironing capabilities, allowing users to choose the appropriate method based on the fabric type and desired results.
The steam function is regulated by a thermostat, enabling continuous steam output when the iron is held horizontally, particularly at higher temperatures. A "Burst of Steam" feature is also available to tackle stubborn wrinkles, providing an extra amount of steam that penetrates fabrics for effective smoothing. This burst can also be used for vertical ironing of items like curtains or hung garments.
The iron incorporates an "Anti-Drip System" which is particularly useful for delicate fabrics. This system automatically activates at low temperatures to prevent water vaporization and dripping, thus protecting fabrics from water stains. Additionally, an "Anti-Scale System" is integrated into the water tank, featuring an anti-scale cartridge designed to reduce scale deposits and prolong the operational life of the iron. This cartridge is a permanent part of the tank and does not require replacement.
For added convenience, the iron supports "Cordless Use," allowing it to be detached from its base for a period of continuous use. The base serves as a charging station, and the iron can be reattached and locked to the base for corded operation, which is recommended for extended steam ironing sessions or when frequent steam shots are required, as this can prevent the soleplate from cooling down.
Usage Features
Before first use, users are advised to read the instruction manual thoroughly to ensure correct operation and prevent damage or injury. The iron should only be used for its intended purpose.
Preparation:
- Ensure the power supply matches the rating label and that the socket has an effective earth connection.
- The iron must be placed and rested on a flat, stable surface to prevent falling.
- Before filling, the iron should be unplugged from the wall outlet and allowed to cool down.
- The water reservoir can be filled with tap water, or ideally, distilled or demineralized water, especially in areas with hard water. Chemically descaled water or other liquids should not be used.
- The water tank should be filled up to the "MAX" level, with the temperature knob set to "MIN" and the filling cover opened.
Temperature Control:
- Always check garment labels for ironing instructions. If labels are missing, a provided table in the manual guides temperature selection based on fabric type (Synthetic for low temperature, Silk-wool for medium, Cotton-linen for high).
- For fabrics made of mixed fibers, the lowest advised temperature should be selected.
- To set the temperature, insert the plug, stand the iron upright, and turn the temperature knob to the desired setting. The pilot light will indicate heating and turn off when the desired temperature is reached, cycling on and off to maintain it.
Ironing Modes:
- Dry Ironing: Connect the iron, ensure the steam knob is in the "off" position, select the temperature, and wait for the pilot light to turn off.
- Steam Ironing: Steam is regulated by the thermostat and is continuously emitted when the iron is held horizontally, primarily at higher temperatures. The steam knob can be used to adjust steam output.
- Burst of Steam: Press the burst button for an extra shot of steam. Allow a few seconds between presses. This function is only for high temperatures.
- Spray Function: Ensure water is in the reservoir. Press the spray button slowly for a dense spray or quickly for a vaporized spray.
- Cordless Use: Unlock the iron from its base. The first heating takes about 55 seconds. The iron can be used cordlessly for approximately 30 seconds before needing to be recharged on the base for 20 seconds. For prolonged steam ironing, corded use is recommended.
Safety Precautions:
- Burns can occur from hot metal parts, water, or steam.
- Keep the iron out of reach of children, especially when energized or cooling down. Close supervision is necessary when children are near.
- Never leave the iron unattended while connected to the mains.
- The filling aperture must not be opened during use.
- Unplug the iron before cleaning, filling/emptying the water tank, and immediately after use.
- Do not pull the cord to unplug the appliance.
- Never operate the iron with a damaged power cord, plug, or if it has fallen, been damaged, or is leaking.
- Do not disassemble the iron; take it to a qualified serviceman for repair.
- If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or a qualified person.
- Do not let the cord touch hot surfaces.
- Do not immerse the iron in water or any other liquid.
- The device must be connected to a ground socket.
- Do not use the appliance with a damaged wall socket or with an extension cord that does not have an earth plug or support the unit's power.
- Do not handle the device or plug with wet hands.
- Never add perfume, vinegar, or other chemical liquids to the tank, as this can damage the appliance.
- The soleplate becomes extremely hot; avoid touching it. Be careful with the steam function to prevent burns.
Maintenance Features
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of the iron.
Self-Cleaning:
- The self-cleaning feature cleans impurities from inside the plate.
- It is recommended to use this function every 10-15 days.
- To perform self-cleaning: fill the reservoir to maximum, set the steam knob and thermostat knob to maximum temperature, unplug the iron, hold it over a sink, press and hold the self-clean button, and gently shake the iron to facilitate water flow through all nozzles.
- Release the button once all water is used. Repeat if significant impurities remain.
General Care and Cleaning:
- Set the temperature control to "MIN," disconnect the iron, and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
- Deposits and residues on the soleplate can be removed with a cloth soaked in a vinegar/water or alcohol solution.
- The casing can be wiped with a damp cloth and then polished with a dry one.
- Never use abrasive cleaners on the soleplate.
- Keep the soleplate smooth and avoid contact with metal objects to prevent damage.
Disposal:
- The product should not be disposed of with normal household waste.
- It must be collected separately to optimize material recovery and recycling, in accordance with European Directive 2012/19/EU on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE).
- Consumers should contact their local authority or retailer for information on correct disposal.
