16. Alw ays wait until the tractor comes to a c ompl ete halt before dismounting .
17. Before
dismounting the tractor, stop the PTO and low er all implements to
the
ground .
18. Always
park the tractor with the brakes locked. Do not depend on the gears
to hold the trac tor in a parked position.
19. Do not make r epa irs or adjustments w hile the equip ment is running.
20. Never stand between the tra cto r and the drawn implement , unless th e trans-
mission is in n eutra l and the brakes are lo cked.
21. Before serv icin g an implement, di sengage the PTO.
22 . Never refuel the t ractor when the engine is hot or running.
23. Do not li ght m atches or smoke while fi llin g the fuel tank.
24 . Before removing the radiator cap, rel ieve the pre ssure in the coo lin g system
by
carefully turning the cap to its first posi tion .
25. Keep the
brakes adjusted pro perly .
26. Disconn
ect the battery ground wire an d the battery connector cable before
making any adjust ments on the en gine or electrical systems.
27. Storage batt eries give off highly explosive hydrogen gas when being
charged . Keep away from sparks and flames.
28. If battery el ectrolyte contacts skin or cloth ing , wash immedi ately with water .
29 . Escaping hydraulic oil can have extre mely high pressure . A stream of it
can easily
penetrate the skin and cause b loo d po ison ing. All conn ect ions
must be
tight and all lines and pipes must be in go od condition . Be sure to
relieve all
hydraulic pressure before disconnecting any lines or pipes on
the
tractor hydrau lic syste m. Keep all gua rds and shields in place.
30. Store lubrica nts, fuel and solvents away from other flamm able materials.
31 . Use a dr y chemical or CO
2
ex tinguisher on fuel, oil or el ectrical fires.
32. When
parts need replaci ng, use only parts approved by Long Mfg . N. C. Inc.
Do not use
substitute parts.
