A BRIEF HISTORY
The rst observations on the interactions of mag-
netic elds on human health have very ancient ori-
gins, and can be traced as far back as Hippocrates
and the ancient Egyptians.
The rst systematic studies and the observations
on the relation between magnetic elds and living
organisms, instead, rst started toward the end of
the 16th century.
But it is only with the scientic discoveries and the
technological progress made in the last century
that the extraordinary drive to knowledge and to
the possible applications of electromagnetothe-
rapy in Medicine was set into motion, especially
thanks to Russian, American, Japanese and French
studies (Danielewsky, Basset, Pilla, Fukuda, Yasuda,
