NOTE - l Under severe usage or if vehicle is being used in unusually dusty areas ,
more frequent maintenance is required.
l Never use new drive chain with worn or damaged sprockets as this results
in rapid chain wear.
The service life of drive chain is dependant on
proper lubrication and adjustment. Poor
maintenance can cause premature wear or
damage to the drive chain and sprocket. Drive
chain should be checked and lubricated as a part
of pre ride inspection. Refer maintenance
schedule (Page No. 33)

Shift the transmission in neutral. Turn the engine off, place the motorcycle on its

main stand .Remove the rubber grommet ( 1 ) from drive chain cover .

Check the drive chain slack (2) by hand, the vertical movement. It should be
approximately 20 ~ 30 mm.
Rotate the rear wheel and observe the slack at various positions. Chain may be found
l
tight in particular section due to some links kinked or binding. Binding can
frequently be eliminated by Lubrication.
Replace excessively worn out or damaged sprockets and chain.
