STEERING AND BRAKES

NOTICE
The brake warning lamp indicates only the parking
brake status. It does not indicate the degree of brake
application. Be sure the parking brake is firmly set
when parked and the gear lever is in gear. When
parking on a hill you should apply the parking brake
before placing the shift lever gear, since the load on
the transmission locking mechanism may make it
difficult to move the shift lever out of gear.
Be sure the parking brake is fully disengaged before
driving off. Failure to do so can lead to brake
problems due to excessive heating of the rear brakes.
WARNING
!
The parking brake should be adjusted as per
recommended maintenance schedule
Always apply the parking brake when leaving the
vehicle, and be certain to leave the transmission in
gear. Failure to do so may allow the vehicle to roll
and cause damage, hit a bystander resulting in
personal injury and death
Leaving unattended children in a vehicle is
dangerous for a number of reasons. Children should
be warned not to touch the parking brake or the
gear lever. Do not leave the key in the ignition. A
child could move the vehicle leading to accidents
Engaging the parking brake while the vehicle is in motion can
cause the rear wheels to lock up. You could lose control of the
vehicle and cause an accident.
Although the parking brake is not recommended to stop a
moving vehicle, if the normal brakes fail, the parking brake
can be used to stop your vehicle in an emergency. However
