Overview

This document describes the Marksman M11a, a remote starter with an alarm system designed for fuel-injected vehicles with automatic transmissions.

Function Description:

The Marksman M11a provides remote starting capabilities and integrates an alarm system for vehicle security. It duplicates the ignition switch function to start the vehicle. The system includes features such as door lock/unlock control, trunk release, dome light control, and various programmable outputs for additional functionalities. It also offers different engine starting detection methods (tachometer, voltage, or elapsed timer) to accommodate various vehicle types and installation preferences. The alarm system incorporates instant trigger inputs for hood/trunk pins and door switches, as well as a 2-stage shock sensor.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Power Input: The system requires a constant +12V power source, with two 20A fused wires for high current circuits.
  • Outputs:
    • Starter Output (Violet Wire): Connects to the low current start solenoid wire of the ignition switch harness. Must have +12V when the ignition switch is in "START" position only.
    • Ignition Outputs (Yellow, Pink Wires): Yellow wire connects to Ignition 1, providing +12V in "ON," "RUN," and "START" positions. Pink wire (optional) connects to Ignition 2.
    • Accessory Output (Brown Wire): Powers climate control systems, providing +12V in "ACCESSORY," "ON," and "RUN" positions.
    • Parking Light Relay Output (White Wire): +12V, 10A max output. Can be configured for + or - selectable.
    • Siren Drive Output (Brown Wire): Positive (+) output, 2 Amps capacity. Factory default setting.
    • Horn Output (Brown Wire, programmable): Low current positive (+) output for activating the vehicle's existing horn.
    • Ignition 3 Output (Yellow Wire, White 10-Pin Mini Connector): (-) 200mA ground output, active 4 seconds before remote start initialization and remains grounded while running. Can be used for immobilizer bypass.
    • Timer Control Channels (Black/Violet, Black/Red, Black/Green Wires, White 10-Pin Mini Connector): (-) 200mA programmable ground outputs for various timed functions (1 second to 2 minutes), such as headlight activation, power window/sunroof closure, or key sensor bypass.
    • Dome Light Control Output (White Wire, White 10-Pin Mini Connector): (-) 200mA grounded output when active. Interior lights remain on for 30 seconds upon disarming or flash with the siren during a violation.
    • Trunk Release Output (Gray Wire, White 10-Pin Mini Connector): (-) 200mA 1-second pulse ground output.
    • Door Unlock Output (Pink Wire, White 10-Pin Mini Connector): (-) 200mA programmable output for 2-step door unlock (driver's door first, then all doors).
    • Grounded Output when Disarmed (Orange/White Wire, White 10-Pin Mini Connector): (-) 200mA grounded output when alarm is disarmed, for ignition disable or fuel pump disable relays.
    • Grounded Output when Armed (Orange Wire, White 10-Pin Mini Connector): (-) 500mA grounded output when alarm is armed, for starter disable relay.
  • Inputs:
    • Negative Safety Shut Down Input (White/Black Wire): Grounds for instant remote start shutdown (e.g., hood pin switch).
    • Positive Safety Shut Down Input (White/Violet Wire): +12V for instant remote start shutdown (e.g., brake light switch).
    • Neutral Safety Switch Input (Black/White Wire): Grounds to enable remote start, open from ground to disable.
    • Ground Instant Trigger Input (Blue Wire): For hood/trunk pin switches (Zone 2).
    • Diesel Wait to Start Input (White/Green Wire): Interfaces with the vehicle's "Wait to Start" light for diesel engine starting.
    • Negative Door Trigger Input (Green Wire): For negative door pin switches (Zone 3).
    • Positive Door Switch Sensing Input (Violet Wire): For positive door pin switches (Zone 3).
    • Instant Start and Turn Off Input (White/Blue Wire): Momentary ground signal activates/turns off remote starter.
    • Tachometer Signal Connection (White/Red Wire): Provides RPM information for engine starting detection.
    • 2-Stage Sensor Input (White 4-Pin Mini Connector): For optional devices like shock sensors (Red: +12V constant, Black: ground, Blue: instant trigger, Green: warn away).
    • Optional Paging (Knock) Sensor (Brown 3-Pin Connector): Adjustable sensitivity.

Usage Features:

  • Remote Starting: Initiates engine start remotely.
  • Alarm System: Provides security with various trigger inputs.
  • Programmable Features: Many features are user-programmable via the valet switch and ignition key, allowing customization of alarm behavior, remote start parameters, and output functions. This includes:
    • Arming/Disarming modes (active, passive, passive without door locking).
    • Automatic rearm on/off.
    • Instant door ajar warning with optional delay.
    • Car-jack mode (inactive, active, passive).
    • Panic mode (with ignition off, on & off, on & off with no time limit, without function).
    • Door lock pulse duration (0.8 sec, 3.5 sec, double pulse).
    • Ignition controlled door lock/unlock.
    • Pathway illumination (parking lights on unlock/lock).
    • Siren/horn output configuration (constant, 5-second pulse, horn output).
    • Out-of-range check enable/disable.
    • Built-in turbo timer control (1, 3, or 5 minutes).
    • Engine type selection (gasoline, diesel with/without wait-to-start light, with warm-up timers).
    • Run time selection (5, 10, 20, 30 minutes).
    • Factory alarm disarm with channel 3.
    • Parking light output (constant, flashing).
    • Door lock before/after start/shutdown.
