Understanding the Vehicle
Supplemental Window Airbags
Supplemental Window AirBags (WAB)
protect the head area of the occupants
in the event of a side impact of
medium/high severity. The WAB is
marked with an “AIRBAG” embossed
word on the inboard side of the doors.
Each airbag deploys independently; a
left side impact deploys the left airbag
only and a right side impact deploys the
right airbag only.
WARNING!
•
Window airbags also need room to
inflate. Do not rest your head, arms
or elbows on the door, windows or
the area in which the window bag
is located to avoid possible injury
during airbag inflation. Sit upright in
the center of the seat.
•
Do not cover the front seatbacks
with clothes or covers. Do not use
accessory seat covers or place objects
between you and the side airbags;
the performance could be adversely
affected and/or objects could cause
serious injury.
•
Do not add roof racks that require
permanent attachments (bolts or
screws) for installation on the vehicle
roof. Do not drill into the roof of the
vehicle for any reason.
Supplemental Passenger Side Knee
Airbag (MC20 Cielo only)
The supplemental passenger side knee
airbag provide enhanced protection and
works together with advanced front
airbags during a frontal impact.
Airbag Deployment Sensors and
Controls
Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC)
The Occupant Restraint Controller ORC
determines if deployment of the front
and/or side airbags in a frontal or side
collision or rollover event is required.
Based on the impact sensor's signals,
a central electronic ORC deploys the
advanced front airbags, WAB airbags,
and front seat belt pretensioner, as
