Use of the engine
Engine control system (OBDII)
This system is designed to continuously
monitors the vehicle components
connected with emissions; it also
indicates, when the warning light
illuminates on the instrument panel,
that the components in question are in
poor condition.
The purpose is to:
– keep the system efficiency under
control
– indicate when a problem causes an
increase in emissions exceeding the
threshold established by regulations
in force
– indicate the need for replacement of
deteriorated components.
In addition, the system includes a
diagnostics connector that can be
interfaced with special instruments.
This makes it possible to read the error
codes stored in the control unit,
together with a set of specific
parameters for the engine operation
diagnostics cycle, on compliance with
OBDII rules.
WARNING: Once the engine is started,
the warning light will remain on
for approximately 18 seconds before
turning off. This is a normal condition
and part of the operating strategy.
WARNING: When the ignition key is
turned to the MAR (ON) position, if the
warning light does not turn on or
if it turns on while driving, contact
your local Authorized Maserati Dealer
as soon as possible.
WARNING: After the problem has been
eliminated, your local Authorized
Maserati Dealer personnel is required
to perform tests on the test bench for
a complete check of the system and if
necessary, also road tests which may
even involve long distances.
