“Cambiocorsa” gearbox
125
When shifting from reverse to 1
st
gear,
if the system automatically engages
the 2
nd
gear, it indicates that a
problem has occurred with the 1st
gear. Therefore, this is not a failure, as
it falls into the logic of the system
operation. For the same reason, the
system automatically engages neutral
(N) in case of interference when
shifting from 1
st
gear to reverse.
During prolonged parking periods
with the engine running, it is advisable
to keep the gearshift in neutral (N).
WARNING If going downhill with the
car in neutral (N), upon UP request a
suitable gear for the car speed will be
automatically inserted.
For safety reasons, the system activates
the sound signal and automatically
sets the neutral gear (N) when the car
is stopped, the engine is on and the
gear is engaged:
the brake pedal or the accelerator
are not used for over 1 minute
if the brake pedal is pressed for
more than 10 minutes
if the door is opened without
pressing the brake pedal or the
accelerator
if the engine lid is opened.
WARNING The warning buzzer is
activated even if the clutch overheats
during the starting "pickup"
maneuver.
In this case, the departure procedure
must be "forced", avoiding hesitation
or keeping the car stopped with the
brake pedal after having released the
accelerator.
Hill Holder strategy
The Hill Holder system helps the driver
during start-offs on uphill stretches. It
activates only after a stop when the
brake pedal is released, keeping the
vehicle stopped for a maximum time of
1.2 seconds, thereby allowing the
driver to have enough time for moving
from the brake pedal to the
accelerator pedal.
WARNING when the system is active,
the driver may perceive a stiffening of
the brake pedal upon pressing it. This
must not be considered as a
malfunction but as a normal
consequence of the system operation.
Important
With the car stationary and a gear
engaged, keep the brake pedal
pressed until departure.
Do not "modulate" the accelerator
pedal during departure stages.
Engage the reverse gear only when
the car is at a full stop and with the
brake pedal pressed.
In the case of uphill stops, do not use
the "departure maneuver" to keep
the car still - use the brake and the
accelerator pedal only when you
wish to depart.
Deactivation of the MSP device
signifies losing control of the
traction wheel slip; in SPORT mode
traction wheel slip can be controlled.
