voltage over I4,7
the regulator-rectifier
is
not functioning
(replace).
b. If
voltage
under
14.7 the baltery charge
is low.
The Alternator
is
O.K.
Make a
complete battery check.
IGNITION
CHECK
Check
the
ignition
by
removing
the high tension
lead from the spark
plug.
Hold
the terminal approxi-
mately Ll4"
from the
spark
plug.
Crank engine
over
rapidly.
If a
spark
jumps
the Ll4"
gap,
the ignition
is
serviceable. Remove
plug
and
check;
replace if dam-
aged. Check
and
set
electrode
gap
at
.030". Tighten
plug
to
25-30 ft.lbs. torque
upon
installation.
Ignition
failures
are,
at times, caused by something
other
than ignition
parts.
Such items as
(l)
shorting
at
grounded
devices,
(2)
switches,
(3)
loose, corroded and
disconnected
terminals,
(4)
frayed and
grounded
wires
and
(5)
weak or dead battery.
