In
1968
Massey-Ferguson
has
incorporated a new
electrical system
in the
MF
12
Tractor
Engine.
It
is
called a
"Solid
State"
system in
which
the conventional
gen-
erator,
regulator,
coilr
points and breaker
cams
have been
eliminated.
In
their
place
there
has been
installed
a
regulator-rectifier;
ignition
unit with
built-in coil;
and
fllnrvheel alternator to
provide
electrical
current.
While this
system is
new to
the
Massey-Ferguson
Service
Organiza-
tion, it is
a
proven
system
and
is less troublesome
than the
previously
used electrical
system. As
an
example,
spark advance
due
to
point gap
changes
does
not
occur
in the
solid
state
system.
Do
nog confuse
this
"Solid
State"
system with the transistor
sys-
tem used in
some modern
automobiles.
A
competent mechanic,
using
specified
test
equipment will have
no
difficulty
in diagnosing
and
correcting
any
problem
which may occur.
