NOTE
S Warm
tires normally exceed rec
-
ommended pressures. Don’t
release air from warm tires to
adjust the pressure.
S Underinflation
can cause
reduced
fuel
economy and poor sealing
of
the tire bead, which will deform
the
wheel and cause separation of
the tire from the rim.
S Overinflation
can produce a
harsh
ride and a greater possibility of
damage from road hazards.
S So keep your tire pressure at the
correct levels. If one frequently
needs
inflating, have it
inspected.
WARNING
Incorrect Tire Inflation:
Overinflation or underinflation of
tires
is dangerous. Adverse handling
or unexpected tire failure could
result in a serious accident. Always
inflate the tires to the correct pres-
sure (page 10-9)
t Tire inspection and maintenance
Inspect
the tire treads,
and remove stones,
nails, glass or other objects that may be
wedged in the tread grooves. Check for
holes or cuts that may permit air to leak
from the tire, and make the necessary
repairs.
Inspect
the tire side walls for cuts, bruises
and
other damage. If you suspect internal
damage
to the tire, have it demounted and
checked. You may need to repair or
replace it.
