SAFETY - STARTING UP
Warn bystanders before starting the engine.
Beforestarting,walkaroundthewhole tractorandany
attachedequipment.Makesurethatnooneisunder,on,
orclosetothetractororequipment.Letotherworkers
andbystandersknowyouarestartingupanddon’tstart
until everyone is clear of the tractor, implements and
towedequipment.
Makesurethateveryone,particularly children,isina
safepositionbeforestartingtheengine.
Mount and dismount safely. [4.1.e]
Alwaysuse‘threepointcontact’withthemachine,and
facethemachinewhenyoumountit.Threepointcontact
meansbothhandsandonefootoronehandandboth
feetareincontactwiththemachineatalltimesduring
mountinganddismounting.
Cleanyourshoesandwipeyourhandsbeforeclimbingon.
Usehandrails,grabhandles,laddersorsteps(asprovided)
whenmountingordismounting.
NEVERusecontrolleversasahandholdandNEVERstep
onfootcontrolswhenmountingordismounting.
NEVERtrytogoonoroffthemovingtractor.
Ifthetractormustbeliftedforservicing,takeittoasui-
tablyequippedworkshop.
Carryoutthefollowingoperationsbeforeanyoperation
aboutthetractor:engagethefour-wheeldrive,thefirst
gearandtheparkingbrakeandputchockstothewheels
touchingtheground.
Beforeliftingthetractor,avoiditsswingingbymeansof
woodenwedgesappliedtothefrontaxle(Fig.2-9b):the
chocksmustavoidanyswingingofthetractor.
Usejackliftsofsuitablecapacityandapplythematthe
centreofthefrontandrearaxles(Fig.2-9bandFig.2-9c)
payingdueattentiontoweightdistribution.[4.1.k]
Nodecalsfortheliftingpointareappliedonthetractor,as
theywouldbetoodifficulttoapplyintheavailablespaces
andwouldbealltooeasilyremovedoreffaced during
normaloperationofthetractor.Applythejacklifttothe
liftingpoints(Fig.2-10a)accordingtothetypeofoperation
andfollowingthesafetyproceduresgivenbefore.
WARNING: DO NOT raise the tractor using the tow
hook.
