Adjusting the brakes
Rear brakes
Checktheefficiencyofthebrakingsystemregularly.
Thebrakingsystemmustbeadjustedwhenthefreetravel
ofthepedals(A)becomesexcessiveandthepedalsare
neartoendoftravel.
Proceedinthefollowingwaytorestorefreepedaltravel
toitsnormalvalueofabout3.5cm(1.4in.)(dimensionA):
1- First makesurethatthere is no air in the hydraulic
brakecircuit.Bleedifnecessary.(Thepresenceofair
inthecircuitisnormallydenotedbyaspongybraking
action).
2- Jackuptherearwheelsofthetractor.
3- Makesurethattheparkingbrakeisoff.
4- Freethebrakepedalsbyraisingthelock.
5- Unscrewthechecknut(1).Slowlytightentheadju-
sternut(2)untilyoucannolongerturnthewheelby
hand.
6- Makea reference mark on the adjuster nut (2) and
onthesupport,thenslackenofftheadjusternutby
2-2and1/4thsofaturni.e.untilthewheelcanbe
freelyturned.Nowlocktheadjusterwiththerelative
checknut(1).
7- Check that the brake pedal has a free travel of 3.5
cm(1.4in.)andrepeattheadjustmentifnecessary.
8- Repeattheprocedurefortheotherside.Finally,check
thatthefreetravelisthesameforbothpedalsand
thatthebrakesengagesimultaneouslyonbothsides.
9- Check that the parking brake lever has not been
affected and adjust if necessary. The procedure is
describedhereunder.
Front brakes
No periodic adjustment is required as the front brakes
areself-regulating.
