AIR CONDITIONED CAB

SAFETY NOTES
Theairconditionerisasafesystemthatisabletoensure
lastingandrisk-freeuse.However,itisimportanttocom-
plywithcertainsimpleprecautions(listedbelow)inorder
topreventpossibleaccidents.
Neverworkontheconditioningsystemyourselves.
Always contact the specialized technicians of the
AssistanceService.
Keepnakedflameswellawayfromtheairconditioning
system(Fig.5-59b)asleakingcoolantcouldgiverise
toadeadlygas:phosgene.
Air conditioning system (if equipped)
WARNING: Never attempt to open the air conditioning system. Liquid refrigerant can cause severe and
painful frostbite. Contact your dealer, who is experienced in servicing and handling of refrigerants.
Themixtureofoilandcoolantintheairconditioning
system is under pressure. Never ever loosen any
unionsortamperwiththepipes.Forthesamereason,
youmustnever unscrewthecompressor’s oillevel
checkplug.
Coolantcanfreezetheskinandparticularlytheeyes.
Proceedinthefollowingwayifaccidentsoccur:
– ifcoolanthassplashedintotheeyes,washthemout
immediately with a few drops of mineral oil, then
continuetowashthemwithasolutionofboricacid
andwater(oneteaspoonofacidin1/4ofacupof
water)andimmediatelyseekmedicalhelp;
– areasfrozenbycoolantfluidcanbetreatedbypro-
gressivelywarmingtheinjuredzonewithcoldwater
andthenapplyingagreasycream.However,always
seekmedicalhelpifsuchaccidentsoccur.
Keeptheairconditioningsystemwellawayfromheat
sourcesasexplosionscouldoccur.
System check
The cab air conditioner is equipped with a system to
protect the compressor from high or low refrigerant
pressures.
Haveyourconditioningsystemcheckedonceayearby
specialisedpersonnelatyourDealer's.
DANGER: Always wear protective clothing in
case of leaks. Coolant can injury the eyes.
The coolant produces a toxic gas if it contacts
a flame.
