Disk Gang & Blades
It will be necessary to check and tighten the disk gang arbor bolts to prevent excessive wear. It is
recommended that the gang arbor bolts be tightened to a torque between 600 and 800 ft-lb. A torque of
600 ft-lb would be equivalent to using a 4’ wrench with a 150lb person hanging freely on the end. A
torque of 800 ft-lb would be equivalent to a 200lb person using a 4’ wrench.
Replace the disk blades when they are worn to no smaller than 17” in diameter. It may be necessary to
add a 1-3/8” machine washer (listed in the disk gang parts listing in appendix C) if the hole in the shaft
does not line up with the castle nut.
Spiral Reel Blades
To replace a spiral reel blade, simply remove the bolts that secure it to the reel bracket and replace with
a new blade. Note the blade orientation.
