Usage Features
Pre-use Cautions:
- Always use a three-hole power supply plug and ensure a good ground connection.
- The instrument's ground terminal must be reliably connected to the power ground.
- Operators should wear insulating gloves and stand on an insulating mat.
- Before turning on the instrument, rotate the "Voltage Adjust" knob counter-clockwise to its minimum position.
- Before presetting any functions, ensure the instrument is in the "Reset" state.
- Do not touch the tested object or test leads during testing.
- Avoid intentionally short-circuiting the high-voltage output terminal to the chassis or ground wire, as this may damage the instrument.
- In case of an accident, immediately cut off the power.
- If indicator lights or alarms malfunction, repair them immediately.
- When performing remote control testing, operate with extreme caution to avoid danger.
Front Panel Functions:
- Power Switch (1): Controls the main power of the instrument.
- "Start" Switch (2): Press to enter the test state; the test light will illuminate.
- "Reset" Switch (3): Press to return the instrument to the standby test state, with no high-voltage output.
- Remote Control Port (4): Interface for remote control testing.
- "Voltage Adjust" Knob (5): Used to adjust the test voltage.
- High Voltage Output Terminal (6): The output terminal for the test voltage (single output for AC instruments, multiple for AC/DC instruments).
- Instrument Ground Terminal (7): Connects to ground and one end of the tested object.
- "Over Leakage" Indicator (8): Illuminates and an alarm sounds if the detected leakage current exceeds the preset value. The output voltage is cut off. Press "Reset" and turn "Voltage Adjust" to minimum to prepare for the next test.
- "Test" Indicator (9): Illuminates when the instrument is in the "Start" test state.
- "Voltage" Meter (10): Three-digit digital voltmeter (three and a half digits for 10kV and above), indicating the output voltage.
- "Current" Meter (11): Three and a half digit digital ammeter, indicating the leakage current.
- "Timer" Meter (12): Two-digit display showing the set timing duration.
- "Timer Dial" Switch (13): Adjusts to set the timing duration.
- "Leakage Current Preset" Potentiometer (14): Press the "Preset/Test" switch to adjust this potentiometer, setting the preset leakage current value, which is displayed on the current meter.
- "Preset/Test" Switch (15): Press to enter "Preset" state; otherwise, it's in "Test" state.
- "Leakage Current Range" Switch (16): Selects the leakage current range (0~2mA / 2~20mA).
- "Leakage Current" Switch (17): Selects the 100mA (200mA) range (only for B-type models).
- "Timer/Manual" Switch (18): Press for timed testing; otherwise, it's manual testing.
- "AC/DC" Conversion Switch (19): Press for DC output; otherwise, it's AC output (only for AC/DC instruments).
- "Output Voltage Conversion" Switch (20): (Only for RK2671AM models).
- Power Socket (21): AC 220V power socket with built-in fuse.
Operation Method:
- Connect Power: Ensure the "Voltage Adjust" knob is at "MIN" (minimum) position, then turn on the power switch.
- Set Leakage Current Value: Press switch "15", then adjust the "Leakage Current Preset" potentiometer "14" to the desired value.
- Connect Tested Object: Connect the test leads to the tested object as required.
- Timed Test: Set the "Timer" switch "17" to "Timer" position, adjust the timer dial to the desired duration, then press "Start" and adjust the "Voltage Adjust" knob to the required output voltage.
- Manual Test: Set the "Timer" switch "17" to "Manual" position, then press "Start".
- Over-Leakage Alarm: During testing, if the detected leakage current exceeds the preset value, the instrument will alarm and cut off the output voltage. Press "Reset" to return to standby. (If using external control for over-leakage, release the start switch on the test probe to continue testing).
- Test Completion: If the leakage current does not exceed the preset value, the instrument will return to standby after the set time or when "Reset" is pressed.
- Remote Control Test: Insert the five-pin plug of the remote control probe into the instrument's remote control socket. Press and hold the switch on the probe to start testing. Releasing it will reset. Note that the timing function is inactive during remote control testing.
Test Example (RK2671AM model):
- Conditions: Test voltage AC: 3000V, max leakage current AC: 1.5mA, timing: 30s.
- Steps:
- Check that the "Voltage Adjust" knob is rotated fully counter-clockwise.
- Plug in the power cord and turn on the power switch.
- Select the appropriate voltage range: Set the voltage range switch to "5kV" position.
- Select the appropriate AC/DC voltage measurement range: Set the "AC/DC" switch to "AC" position.
- Select the appropriate leakage current range: Set the leakage current range switch to "2mA" position.
- Preset the leakage current value: Press the "Leakage Current Preset" switch to "Preset" position, then adjust the potentiometer until the current meter displays "1.500mA". Release the switch to "Test" position.
- Set the timing: Set the "Timer/Manual" switch to "Timer" position, and adjust the timer dial to "30" seconds.
- Connect the high-voltage test probe to the AC voltage output terminal. Connect the black hook of the probe to the instrument's black GND terminal.
- Connect the high-voltage test probe, ground wire, and the tested instrument. (Typically, the black clamp connects to the ground terminal of the tested power supply, and the high-voltage terminal connects to the other terminal (L or N). The tested object must be placed on an insulating workbench).
- After confirming instrument settings and connections, start the test.
- Press the "Start" button, and slowly adjust the "Voltage Adjust" knob to increase the voltage until the voltmeter displays "3.00kV". If the tested leakage current exceeds the preset value during voltage increase, the alarm will sound, and the voltage output will stop, indicating a failed test. Press "Reset" to return to the initial state.
- Remote Mode Operation: Insert the five-pin aviation plug of the test probe into the remote test port. Press and hold the switch on the test probe to start testing, then release to reset. The instrument will automatically reset if over-leakage current occurs.
- Caution: The timer is disabled when the test probe is in use. The same applies when using an external self-locking foot switch to control the instrument.
