The Memphis Audio LL6SA is a 6-channel line level adapter with summing, designed to facilitate the integration of aftermarket amplifiers and signal processors with factory head units, while retaining factory volume controls. This device is particularly useful for upgrading car audio systems without replacing the original stereo.

Function Description:

The LL6SA's primary function is to convert high-level speaker signals from a factory head unit into low-level RCA signals suitable for aftermarket amplifiers. It features a "summing" capability, which decodes complex factory signals with built-in crossovers and converts them into a clean, full-range preamp signal. This is especially beneficial for factory-installed systems with actively crossed-over speaker systems, allowing selected channels to be summed into the main outputs. The device supports both signal sense and manual turn-on modes, and provides a remote turn-on output for aftermarket amplifiers. An auxiliary RCA input allows for connecting an additional source, such as a phone, directly to the LL6SA.

Usage Features:

  • Input Level Adjustments: Controls are provided to match the LL6SA's input level with the output level of the source unit.
  • Power Indicator: An LED indicates when the LL6SA is powered on.
  • Summing Indicators: LEDs light up when a channel is being summed or connected to the main channel.
  • Remote Control: An included remote control features an indicator light, a self-lock switch for source selection (switching between main head unit and AUX input), and a control knob to adjust the subwoofer channel's output level.
  • Isolation Jumpers: Three jumper selections (Isolated, 200 ohm, Ground) are available to address alternator noise issues by providing alternative grounding connections. The device is shipped in the isolated position.
  • Blending Switch: This feature allows users to sum selected channels into the main channels, indicated by a green light on the front of the LL6SA when in the blended position. Factory setting is in the direct position.
  • Textured Aluminum Heatsink: Helps dissipate heat for reliable operation.

Maintenance Features:

  • Installation Recommendations: Memphis Audio strongly recommends that installation be performed by an authorized Memphis Audio dealer. If self-installing, users are advised to read the manual carefully to avoid compromising product integrity, vehicle damage, or voiding the warranty.
  • Pre-Installation Check: Before securing the LL6SA, inspect the mounting location to ensure no electrical, hydraulic, fluid, or fuel lines will be drilled into or damaged.
  • Battery Disconnection: Always disconnect the battery prior to beginning any installation.
  • Wiring Quality: Use conventional copper stranded wire with proper size terminals for all connections. Poorly made connections can lead to excessive heat, short circuits, and system failure.
  • Grounding: The GND terminal should be connected to a clean chassis ground, free of debris and paint, using a crimped and soldered ring terminal for a sound connection.
  • Warranty: The product comes with a one-year warranty from the date of purchase, covering defects in material or workmanship. The warranty is void if the product is physically damaged by improper usage or abuse, or if repairs are attempted outside of a Memphis Audio facility. The warranty does not cover installation expenses, product exterior/cosmetics, or incidental/consequential damages. It also excludes damage from improper installation, moisture, excessive heat, chemical cleaners, UV radiation, negligence, misuse, accidents, criminal activity, unauthorized service, subsequent damage to other components, removal/re-installation costs, tampered serial numbers, freight damage, shipping costs, or purchases from unauthorized dealers. A return authorization number is required for warranty service.
