Fuel Pressure Relief Procedure
NOTICE
Refer to “Service Precautions,” in “Repair
Procedures,” BEFORE proceeding.
1. Disconnect electrical connector from fuel pump.
2. Crank engine for ten seconds (if engine starts al-
low it to run until it dies) to relieve any fuel pres-
sure in the system.
Fuel Meter Cover Assembly
NOTICE
Refer to “Service Precautions,” in “Repair
Procedures,” BEFORE proceeding.

CAUTION
DO NOT remove the four screws securing the
pressure regulator to the fuel meter cover. The
fuel pressure regulator includes a large spring
under heavy compression which, if accidentally
released, could cause personal injury.
REMOVAL
1. Remove the flame arrestor from the throttle body.
2. Disconnect electrical connectors to fuel injectors.
(Squeeze plastic tabs and pull straight up.)
3. Remove the fuel meter cover screw assemblies.
4. Remove fuel meter cover assembly.

CLEANING AND INSPECTION
IMPORTANT: DO NOT immerse the fuel meter
cover (with pressure regulator) in cleaner, as
damage to the regulator diaphragm and gasket
could occur.
1. Inspect pressure regulator seating area for pit-
ting, nicks, burrs or irregularities. Use a magnify-
ing glass if necessary. If any of the above is pres-
ent, replace the cover assembly.
