mainthoroughfare,preferablyintoalay-by.Ifa
breakdownoccursonamotorway,pullwelloverto
theinsideofthehardshoulder.
•Switchonhazardlights.
•Ifavailable,positionawarningtriangleoraashing
amberlight50to150metres(150to500ft)behind
yourvehicletowarnapproachingtrafc.Noteitisa
legalrequirementofsomecountriesthatawarning
triangleiscarriedinthevehicle,ifindoubtconsult
thelocalhighwaysagencyforfurtherinformation.
•Considerevacuatingpassengersthroughnearside
doorsontothevergetoreduceriskofinjuryinthe
eventofcollision.
