ServiceBrakeSystem
ThisseriesofmodelsareequippedwithanIntegrated
BrakingSystem(IBS),whichstopsthevehicleusingdual
circuits.Payattentiontothefollowingsduringuseofthe
IBS:
TheIBSonlyfunctionswiththepowersystemin
'READY'mode.NEVERallowthevehicletofreewheel
withthepowersystemturnedoff.
Ifthepowersystemisturnedoffwhiledriving,you
shouldrmlypressthebrakepedal,andstopthevehicle
asquicklyastrafcsafelypermits.
IftheIBSperformancedegradesduetoalowbatteryor
otherreasons,youneedtoapplymoreforcethanusual
tothebrakepedaltobrakeeffectively.
Whendrivingthroughpuddlesorheavyrain,awater
lmmayformonthesurfaceofbrakedisc,whicheasily
reducesthebrakingefciencyandextendsbraking
distance.Inthiscase,keepasafedistancefromother
vehiclesandintermittentlyapplythebrakepedalto
keepthebrakediscsurfacedry.
Ifthebrakingefciencydecreasesduetovehiclefailure,
pleasecontactalocalMGAuthorisedRepairerfor
serviceassoonaspossible.
BrakeEnergyRegeneration
IBSsupportsbrakeenergyregeneration.Whenthe
brakepedalispressed,theIBSwilldeterminethedriver's
demandforbrakingforce.Thedrivemotorwillconvert
thevehicle'skineticenergyintoelectricalenergy,which
isstoredinthehighvoltagebatterywhenthevehicleis
decelerating.Thisprocesscanimprovetherangeofthe
vehicle.
BodyStabilityControlSystem
ThebodystabilitycontrolsystemincludesDynamic
StabilityControlSystem(SCS)andT ractionControl
System(TCS).
SCSisdesignedtoassistthedriverincontrolofdriving
direction.WhenSCSdetectsthatthevehicleisnotmoving
intheintendeddirection,itwillintervenebyapplyingbrake
forcetoselectedwheelsorthroughthepowersystem
topreventslidingandstabilisethedrivingdirectionby
correctingtheunder-steeringorover-steering.
