workinglocation(whetherasanindividualcomponentor
aspartofanassembly).NEVERuseasealwhichhasbeen
improperlystoredorhandled,suchashungonahookornail.
•Carefullyexaminesealbeforettingtoensurethatitis
cleanandundamaged.
•Ensurethesurfaceonwhichthenewsealistorunis
freeofburrsorscratches.Renewthecomponentifthe
originalsealingsurfacecannotbecompletelyrestored.
•Protectthesealfromanysurfacewhichithastopass
whenbeingtted.Useaprotectivesleeveortapeto
covertherelevantsurface.
•Lubricatethesealinglipswitharecommendedlubricant
beforeusetopreventdamageduringinitialuse.Ondual
lippedseals,smeartheareabetweenthelipswithgrease.
•Ifasealspringisprovided,ensurethatitisttedcorrectly.
Placelipofsealtowardsuidtobesealedandslideinto
positiononshaft.Usettingsleevewherepossibleto
protectsealinglipfromdamagebysharpcorners,threads
orsplines.Ifattingsleeveisnotavailable,useplastic
tubeortapetopreventdamagetothesealinglip.
•Greaseoutsidediameterofseal,placesquaretohousing
recessandpressintopositionusinggreatcare,andif
possiblea'bellpiece'toensurethatsealisnottilted.In
somecasesitmaybepreferabletotsealtohousing
beforettingtoshaft.Neverletweightofunsupported
shaftrestinseal.
•Usetherecommendedservicetooltotanoilseal.If
thecorrectservicetoolisnotavailable,useasuitable
tubeapproximately0.4mm(0.015in.)smallerthan
theoutsidediameteroftheseal.UseahammerVERY
