exceptinrecommendedcaseswhenthisformspartofan

Inadditiontomarksidentifyingthemanufacturer,thetopofthe
boltheadisalsomarkedwithsymbolsindicatingthestrength
grade,e.g.8.8;10.9;12.9;14.9.Asanalternative,somebolts
andscrewshavetheMandstrengthgradesymbolstampedon
theatsofthehexagon.
EncapsulatedBoltsandScrews
Encapsulatedboltsandscrewshaveamicroencapsulated
lockingagentpre-appliedtothethread.Theyareidentied
byacolouredsectionwhichextends360°aroundthethread.
Thelockingagentisreleasedandactivatedbytheassembly
processandisthenchemicallycuredtoprovidethelocking
action.
Unlessaspecicrepairprocedurestatesotherwise,
encapsulatedboltsmaybereusedprovidingthethreadsare
undamagedandthefollowingprocedureisadopted:
•Removelooseadhesivefromtheboltandhousing
threads.
•Ensurethreadsarecleanandfreeofoilandgrease.
•Applyanapprovedlockingagent.
