Overview

This document is an Owner's Manual for Midea Ceiling & Floor Type Air Conditioners. It provides information on operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting the unit to ensure proper function and extended lifespan.

Function Description

The Midea Ceiling & Floor Type Air Conditioner is designed to provide cooling, heating, and dry modes for indoor environments. It features an indoor unit with an air inlet, air outlet, louver, and display panel, and connects to an outdoor unit. The system can be operated via a remote control or a manual button on the indoor unit.

Key operational modes include:

  • AUTO Mode: The unit automatically selects the operating mode based on the ambient temperature.
  • FORCED COOL Mode: The unit cools with a high wind speed for 30 minutes, then switches to AUTO mode. Remote control is disabled during this operation.
  • OFF Mode: The unit turns off, and the remote control is re-enabled.

The air conditioner includes an Auto-Restart function (on some models) which, in case of a power failure, allows the unit to restart with the same settings once power returns. It also features a Louver Angle Memory Function (optional) that restores the horizontal louver angle to its previous position after a power failure. A Refrigerant Leak Detection System (on some models) alerts the user with an "EC" display on the LCD screen and a flashing LED indicator in the event of a refrigerant leak.

Important Technical Specifications

The manual lists several models with their corresponding indoor and outdoor unit codes:

  • MUE-30FN1D0 MOU-30FN1-QD0
  • MUE-18FNXD0 MOU-18FN8-QD0
  • MUE-24FNXD0 MOU-24FN8-QD0
  • MUE-36FNXD0 MOU-36FN8-RD0
  • MUE-36FNXD0 MOU-36FN8-QD0
  • MUE-48FNXD0 MOU-48FN8-RD0
  • MUE-55FNXD0 MOU-55FN8-RD0

Operating Conditions:

  • COOL Mode:
    • Indoor Temperature: 17-32°C (62-90°F)
    • Outdoor Temperature: 0-50°C (32-122°F) (or -15-50°C (5-122°F) for low temperature cooling models)
  • HEAT Mode:
    • Indoor Temperature: 0-30°C (32-86°F)
    • Outdoor Temperature: -15-24°C (5-76°F)
  • DRY Mode:
    • Indoor Temperature: 17-32°C (62-90°F)
    • Outdoor Temperature: 0-50°C (32-122°F)

The unit is designed to operate safely and effectively within these temperature ranges. Operation outside these conditions may lead to malfunction or reduced efficiency.

The manual also specifies that the indoor unit must be installed 2.5m above the floor. An all-pole disconnection device with at least 3mm separation distance in all poles and a residual current device (RCD) with a rating above 10mA must be incorporated into the fixed wiring according to national rules. For units adopting R32/R290 Refrigerant, specific warnings are provided regarding flammability and storage in well-ventilated areas.

Usage Features

The air conditioner can be controlled via a remote control or a manual button on the indoor unit's display panel. The display panel includes indicators for operation, timer, pre-heating/defrost (PRE-DEF), fan, and alarm, along with an LED display.

Manual Operations: The manual button allows cycling through AUTO, FORCED COOL, and OFF modes. In FORCED COOL mode, the operation light flashes, and the unit cools with high wind speed for 30 minutes before switching to AUTO. The remote control is disabled during this mode.

Energy Saving Tips:

  • Avoid setting the unit to excessive temperature levels.
  • Close curtains during cooling to block direct sunlight.
  • Keep doors and windows closed to maintain desired room temperature.
  • Do not obstruct air inlets and outlets.
  • Utilize timer and SLEEP/ECONOMY modes.
  • Remove remote control batteries if not using the unit for extended periods.
  • Clean the air filter every two weeks.
  • Adjust louvers to avoid direct airflow.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the unit's efficiency and longevity.

Unit Maintenance:

  • Always turn off the air conditioning system and disconnect power before cleaning or maintenance.
  • Do not use chemicals, benzene, paint thinner, polishing powder, or other solvents for cleaning, as these can damage plastic surfaces.
  • Do not wash the unit with running water.
  • Do not use water hotter than 40°C (104°F) to clean the front panel to prevent deformation or discoloration.
  • Clean the unit with a damp, lint-free cloth and neutral detergent, then dry with a dry, lint-free cloth.

Air Filter Cleaning: The air filter should be cleaned every two weeks, or more frequently in dusty environments, to maintain optimum efficiency.

  1. Open the air intake by detaching the grille at a 45° angle.
  2. Remove the air filter (methods vary by unit size: 3.2~10.5KW units require taking out the filter, while 14~16KW units require pulling it out from the air inlet).
  3. Clean the filter by vacuuming the inlet side or washing it in warm water with mild detergent, ensuring the inlet side faces down and away from the water stream.
  4. Rinse with clean water and air-dry, avoiding direct sunlight.
  5. Reinstall the filter. Note: Removing and cleaning the filter should be performed by a certified technician, especially for units with R32/R290 Refrigerant, due to potential hazards.

Repairing Refrigerant Leaks: In case of a refrigerant leak, immediately turn off the unit, ventilate the room, and contact a dealer. Do not use the unit until the leak is repaired, as refrigerant can be toxic and flammable. Measures must be taken to prevent refrigerant concentration from exceeding safety limits in small rooms.

Preparation for Periods of Non-Use:

  • Storing the Unit: Run the appliance on FAN mode for 12 hours in a warm room to dry it and prevent mold. Turn off and unplug the appliance. Clean and reinstall the air filter. Remove batteries from the remote control.
  • Maintenance after Extended Non-Use: Remove any obstacles blocking vents. Clean and reinstall the air filter and front grille. Turn on the main power switch at least 12 hours before operating the unit.

Troubleshooting: The manual provides a comprehensive troubleshooting guide for common problems, including the unit not turning on, changes in operating mode, white mist emission, noises, poor cooling or heating performance, and frequent starting/stopping. It also lists error codes with their corresponding causes and timer indicator flashes.

European Disposal Guidelines: Users in European Countries must dispose of the unit properly due to refrigerants and potentially hazardous materials. Disposal options include municipal electronic waste collection facilities, retailer take-back programs, manufacturer take-back programs, or certified scrap metal dealers. It is emphasized not to dispose of the product as household waste or in natural surroundings, as hazardous substances can leak into the environment.
