12.3 I/O Number Assignment
In the multiple CPU system, I/O numbers are used for communication between each CPU
module and I/O modules or intelligent function modules, and for communication between
different CPU modules.
12.3.1 I/O number assignment for the module
The position (slot) of the I/O number 00H in the multiple CPU system is different from that
in the single CPU system.
Note that the order of I/O number assignment, I/O numbers for each slot and empty slots
are the same between both systems. ( CHAPTER 7)
(1) Position of I/O number "00H"
(a) Slots occupied by CPU modules
In the multiple CU system, CPU modules occupy the slots of the number set in the
<<Multiple CPU settings>> tab of C Controller setting utility.
(b) Mounting positions of I/O modules and intelligent function modules
Mount I/O modules and intelligent function modules from the right of the slots
occupied by CPU modules.
(c) I/O number assignment
Set "00
H" to the I/O module or intelligent function module mounted next to the
rightmost CPU module, and then assign consecutive numbers to the right.
Example: When the number of CPUs is set to 2
Remark
When the number of CPU modules to be mounted on the main base unit is less
than the value set in the <<Multiple CPU settings>> tab of C Controller setting
utility, set "CPU (Empty)" for any empty slots.
For the "CPU (Empty)" setting, refer to the following.
