2.8 Tightening the crankshaft pulley nut
(1) Use the studs and the bar described in Section
“2.3” to lock the crankshaft.
(2) While locking the crankshaft, tighten the
crankshaft pulley nut to the specified torque.
The locking studs and bar should be
sufficiently strong to avoid any accident.
2.9 Installing the PTO gear
Drive the PTO gear into the timing gear case.
Ensure that the side of the gear with no oil hole
faces the rear of the engine.
2.10 Inserting the tappets
Apply engine oil to the periphery of the tappets,
and insert them into the tappet holes in the
cylinder block.
2.11 Installing the oil seal case
(1) Install a new oil seal case gasket.
(2) Apply engine oil to the entire periphery of the
oil seal lips, and install the oil seal and case onto
the cylinder block.

Apply engine oil
Tightening torque:
147 to 196 N
m
(15.0 to 20.0 kgf
m)
