Checking for Power Steering Leaks
1. Checkthelevelofpowersteeringuidinthe
reservoir.ItshouldbebetweentheMAXand
MINlevelwhentheuidisatnormalambient
temperature.Adjustthelevelasnecessary.
2. RemovethereservoircapandinsertthePower
SteeringEvacAdapterintotheneckoftheres-
ervoiruntilitissnug.
3. Connectthehandvacuumpumpandreservoir
totheevacadapterasshowningure1.
NOTE:Theuidbottleisrequiredtoprevent
uidfromenteringthepump.
4. Operatethevacuumpumptoapply20-25in-Hg
(68-85kPa)vacuumtothesystem.
WARNING: Topreventdamagetothepump,
donotruntheenginewhilethesystemisunder
vacuum.
5. Watchthegaugeneedle.Adropofmorethan
2or3in-Hgindicatesaleakinthesystem.
Also,airbubblescantypicallybeseeninthe
reservoir.
6. Ifaleakexists,repairandretest.
