CARE OF YOUR PRO-STEAM 2
To ensure a long, trouble free life it is essential that your steamer is flushed out at least
once a week. Failure to do this will result in damage and will void the warranty.
To flush out your steamer, carefully follow the instructions below:
Before starting, the water in your steamer must be allowed to cool to a temperature which
will not cause injury before it is tipped out. Disconnect the steamer from the power supply,
then remove the pole set. The hose must be removed and carefully emptied of any water
Where possible, your steamer should be emptied into a ground level drain - NOT lifted up
and emptied into a sink
Refill the steamer with fresh tap water and empty again. Do not use any additives such as
perfume which will void the warranty. Repeat this procedure until the water pours out clear.
Finally, wipe the casing with a damp cloth or a duster and polish
Persons using the steamer must be authorised to do so. They must be trained in safe
working procedures; and when necessary protective clothing should be worn
Service should only be carried out by Morplan or an approved service agent

Do you have a question about the Morplan PRO-STEAM 2 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The Morplan Pro-Steam 2 is a garment steamer designed to efficiently remove wrinkles and creases from fabrics, offering a professional finish. It is a robust electrical appliance intended for regular use in commercial or domestic settings.

Function Description:

The primary function of the Pro-Steam 2 is to generate steam to relax fabric fibers, thereby smoothing out wrinkles and creases. It is suitable for a wide range of fabrics, though specific precautions are advised for delicate materials like moiré silk, seersucker, silk taffeta, artificial and natural furs, and the nap side of leather. For these delicate fabrics, testing on an inconspicuous area or steaming from the back of the fabric is recommended. When dealing with man-made pile fabrics, the nozzle should be kept at least 15cm (6") away from the pile or used on the reverse side. For cotton velvet, the nozzle can be run lightly on the pile, which can then be lifted with a brush after steaming. If a water spot occurs on the fabric, gently rubbing the back of the nozzle over the area should allow it to dry without leaving a mark. The steamer is designed to be user-friendly, allowing anyone to achieve a perfect finish.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Rated Voltage: 230V 50Hz AC only.
  • Wattage: 1500W.
  • Water Capacity: 2 Litres.
  • Earthing: This appliance MUST BE EARTHED for safety.
  • Guarantee: One-year guarantee against defects in material or workmanship under normal use, commencing from the date of purchase. This covers free repair of defective parts within 12 months. However, the guarantee is voided by misuse, negligence, accident, natural calamities, lack of proof of purchase, or failure due to lime scale buildup. Cables are specifically excluded from the guarantee.

Usage Features:

  • Assembly: The steamer requires assembly of its poles, with the short section at the bottom, fixed to the steamer. The hose assembly then attaches to the steamer, and the handle is placed in the hook at the top of the pole. A critical safety note is that the holes in the nozzle must always point upwards to allow excess condensation to drain down the hose, preventing water spillage and directing steam away from the user's face.
  • Filling: The steamer is filled by unscrewing the filler cap and pouring in 2 Litres (3.5 Pints) of hot or cold tap water using the provided funnel. Overfilling must be avoided; the indicator float in the sight glass will show "MAX" in red when full. If condensation obstructs the view, caps can be removed to check the level. Any excess water must be emptied, and spills wiped up. Only plain tap water should be used; additives like perfume or other agents will damage the steamer and void the warranty.
  • Operation: After plugging in and switching on at the mains (the green ON/OFF switch will illuminate), steam will appear from the nozzle within a few minutes, depending on the water temperature. Users must exercise caution as the casing and handle can become very hot.
  • Steaming Technique: When steaming, the hose should be allowed to heat up, and the nozzle should be shaken vigorously and regularly to remove excess condensation. When working at low levels, the hose should be periodically raised to full height to allow condensation to run back into the steamer. It is crucial not to kink or distort the hose.
  • Garment Handling: Garments can be steamed on a rail or hung from the steamer pole using a hanger. Curtains can be steamed from either the front or back, with caution advised for glazed fabrics. The nozzle should be run parallel to the fabric, maintaining tension and control with the other hand. For full garments, the nozzle can also be run inside the fabric to steam outwards, which helps reduce creases.
  • Storage During Use: The hose and handle should always be returned to the hook at the top of the pole. The hose assembly should never be left on the floor, and the steamer should never be tilted or carried while in use.
  • Refilling During Use: The steamer should only be refilled when it runs out of water, indicated by an amber empty light and a warning buzzer. A thermal cut-out will automatically engage when the water runs out. Before refilling, the steamer must be disconnected from the power supply. The refilling process follows the same steps as initial filling. Overfilling must be avoided, and any water spillage must be wiped up before reconnecting the power supply. The steamer should not be left unattended.
  • Safety Filler Cap: The steamer is fitted with a safety filler cap. If steam or water emits from the cap, it indicates overfilling, a need for rinsing out the steamer, or a kinked/restricted hose.
  • Rental Option: For urgent needs, Morplan offers a low-cost rental service for a minimum period of 5 days. Collection and return are to their London West End store. A refundable deposit is required.

Maintenance Features:

  • Flushing: To ensure a long and trouble-free life, the steamer must be flushed out at least once a week. Failure to do so will result in damage and void the warranty. Before flushing, the steamer must be allowed to cool to a safe temperature. The steamer should be disconnected from the power supply, the pole set removed, and the hose removed and carefully emptied of any water. Ideally, the steamer should be emptied into a ground-level drain, not lifted into a sink. It should then be refilled with fresh tap water and emptied again. This process should be repeated until the water runs out clear. Finally, the casing should be wiped with a damp cloth or duster and polished. No additives like perfume should be used during flushing, as this will void the warranty.
  • Hard Water Management: The manual emphasizes the importance of protecting the steamer from harmful hard water problems. A Hard Water Test Strip is supplied for users to determine their water hardness. Failure due to lime scale buildup is not covered by the guarantee. In very hard water areas, periodic use of a domestic descaling agent is recommended.
  • Rinsing Out: The steamer should be rinsed out at least once a week. Failure to do so will lead to sediment impurities building up inside the boiler, which can cause hot water to eject from the nozzle, shorten the heating element's life, and invalidate the guarantee.
  • Service and Repair: Service and repair should only be carried out by Morplan or an approved service agent. Users are explicitly warned not to dismantle or attempt to repair the steamer themselves, as incorrect reassembly or repair could lead to fire, electric shock, or injury.

General Operating Safety:

  • The steamer is designed solely for pressing fabric and removing creases; it should not be modified or used for any other purpose.
  • As an electrical appliance, some parts become very hot and can cause burns.
  • Children must be kept away from the steamer, and it should never be left unattended when plugged in. Always disconnect it from the mains socket when not in use.
  • The power cable's condition should be checked regularly; the steamer should not be used if the cable is damaged. Inadequate extension leads can be dangerous.
  • The cable should not touch hot surfaces, and the steamer should be allowed to cool before storage.
  • The steamer should not be handled, pulled, or carried by the hose or power cable, and the cable should never be tugged.
  • The plug or steamer should not be handled with wet hands.
  • Always disconnect from the power supply before filling with water, and any spillage should be wiped up before reconnecting.
  • The steamer should not be operated if any part is damaged, nor should it be immersed in water or other liquids.
  • Personnel using the steamer must be authorized, trained in safe working procedures, and wear protective clothing when necessary.
