Product Features
2.1.2 TCP/IP
2.1.2.1 Overview
The network capabilities are achieved by a using different layers of connections. Every layer of connections provides basic
connections to the layer above it. The higher the layer is, the more capabilities it can provide.
Figure 1. System Overview
The three layers of connections are:
Physical links
Point-to-point links
TCP/UDP links
2.1.2.2 Features and Benefits
The TCP/UDP IP feature provides the terminal with the following benefits:
Up to 4, simultaneous protocol connections.
Ability to pass data via the protocol stack using AT commands (command mode). This relieves the terminal from switching
the RS232 to "binary mode" and back to "command mode".
Ability to use UDP and TCP simultaneously.
No need for protocol support from the terminal - only data sending and receiving.
Reduced memory utilization. g20 manages the protocol stack and therefore saves terminal memory.
