2 Depending on how your radio is programmed, you
hear radio activity or total silence. This indicates that
the channel is in use.
3 If you do not hear radio activity, the silence indicates
that the channel is free. Press the
PTT button to talk.
Release the PTT button to listen.
Permanent Monitor
The Permanent Monitor feature is used to continuously
monitor a selected channel for activity.
Turning Permanent Monitor On or Off
Follow the procedure to turn Permanent Monitor on or off
on your radio.
Press the programmed Permanent Monitor button.
When the radio enters the mode:
An alert tone sounds.
The yellow LED lights up.
When the radio exits the mode:
An alert tone sounds.
The yellow LED turns off.
Scan Lists
Scan lists are created and assigned to individual channels
or groups. Your radio scans for voice activity by cycling
through the channel or group sequence specified in the
scan list for the current channel or group.
Your radio can support up to 250
scan lists, with a
maximum of 16 members in a list.
Each scan list supports a mixture of both analog and digital
entries.
Scan
Your radio cycles through the programmed scan list for the
current channel looking for voice activity when you start a
scan.
During a dual-mode scan, if you are on a digital channel,
and your radio locks onto an analog channel, it
automatically switches from digital mode to analog mode
for the duration of the call. This is also true for the reverse.
