Performing Vacuum Leak Test
The vacuum leak test uses tester that creates a vacuum inside the radio and monitors the radio for a
stable vacuum reading. This reading shows if the radio is properly sealed. The Leak Test Fixture part
number is TE000060A01.
Prerequisites:
• Remove the antenna from the radio.
• Remove the battery from the radio.
• Remove the Ventilation Label and GORE membrane covering the vacuum port. Refer to
Replacement Parts List on page 61 for the location of these parts.
• Remove the keypad from the radio.
Procedure:
1 Attach the vacuum hose to the vacuum leak tester. Check the leak tester and the hose for leaks
by blocking off the open end of the hose and operating the leak tester a few times.
NOTE: Ensure that the difference between the maximum and minimum fluctuation
readings of the gauge pointer remains within 0.05 inHg; the actual reading of the gauge
pointer is not important.

2 Block the open end of the hose and adjust the leak tester so that the gauge shows 6.60 inHg.
Repair or replace the tool if there is any loss of vacuum.
3 Attach the open end of the hose to the air hole adapter of the leak test fixture.
4 Face the radio downwards and place it in the leak test fixture. Ensure that the radio is positioned
perfectly in the mold with the back chassis facing up.
