Turning Your Communicator (PIC) On
Ensure that a fresh batter y is properly installed as described in
“Installing/Replacing the Ba ttery” on page 4.
Open the flip and press any key to turn your PIC on. The PIC emits a 4-
second power-up aler t, and the Status screen displays.
From the Status screen, press any key to display the Main menu.
• If you do not se lect a menu item, the PIC goes into standby mode.
• Ifyouhaveoneormoreunreadmessages,1 flashes o n the Standby
screen.
Note: If the communicator (PIC) does not turn on, see “Safety Information” on
page 48.
Turning Your Communicator (PIC) Off
You can turn off your communicator (PIC) to save battery power. ( The
communicator (PIC) receives messages store d by the system when the unit is
turned back on within the coverage area.)
From the M ain menu, press y or z to highlight / Power Off and
press {.
