Starting Engine

1. Pushprimerthreetimes.Waitabouttwoseconds
betweeneachpush.SeeFigure4-2. In temperature

to restarta warmengine.
2. Standingbehindthe mower,squeezethe bladecontrol
againstupperhandle.SeeFigure4-2.
3. Holdingthesetwo handlestogetherfirmly,grasp recoil
starterhandleand pullropeoutwitha rapid,continu-
ous,fullarm stroke.SeeFigure4-2. Keepinga firm
grip onthe starterhandle,let the roperewindslowly.
Repeatuntilenginecranks.Letthe roperewindeach
timeslowly.
Stopping Engine
1. Releasebladecontroltostoptheengineand blade.
2. Disconnectsparkplugwirefromsparkplugand
groundagainsttheengine.

on the mower or to removethe grass
catcher.
UsingYour Lawn Mower

without eitherthe reardoor or theentire

Besurelawnis clearof stones,sticks,wire,or other
objectswhichcoulddamagelawnmowerorengine.
Suchobjectscouldbe accidentlythrownby the mower
in anydirectionandcauseseriouspersonalinjuryto the
operatorandothers.

_ ARNING:if you strikea foreign object,
stop the engine.Removewirefrom the
sparkplug,thoroughly inspectmower
for any damage,and repair damage before restart-
ingand operating. Extensive vibration of mower
during operation is an indicationof damage.The
unit should be promptlyinspectedand repaired.
1. Oncetheengineis running,squeezetheblade
controlagainsttheupperhandleto engagethe
blade.
• Forbest results,do notcut wetgrassand never
cutoff morethanone-thirdof the totallengthof the
grass.
Using as Mulcher
Formulchinggrass,removethe grasscatcheror side
dischargechutefromthemower.The reardischarge
doorshouldbeclosed.
Foreffectivemulching,do notcut wetgrass.New
orthickgrassmayrequirea narrowercut. Adjust
groundspeedaccordingtoconditionoflawn.
• If thegrasshasbeenallowedto growinexcessof
fourinches,mulchingis not recommended.Usethe
grasscatchertobagclippingsinstead.
Using Grass Catcher
Youcanusethegrasscatcherto collectclippingswhile
youareoperatingthe mower.

section.Grassclippingswillautomaticallycollectin
bagasyou runmower.Operatemowertill grassbag
isfull.
2. Stopenginecompletelybyreleasingthe blade
control.Makesurethattheunithas cometo a
completestop.
3. Liftdischargedoorandpullgrassbagup andaway
fromthe mowerto removethebag.Disposeof the
grassclippingsand reinstallthe bagwhencomplete.
