Idler Hold Down Tools
Two tools are needed to hold down the spring loaded
idlers. The components needed to assemble the tools are:
• (2) forked angle brackets (50 x 55 mm).
• (2) angle brackets (45 x 55mm).
• (2) 5.25” x 1” x 0.25” pieces of flat stock steel.
• (8) 1/4” x 20 x 5/8” bolts
• (8) 1/4” x 20 nuts
NOTE: The print for the angle brackets and the flat
stock is on the next page.
NOTE: The stock angle brackets used to make
these tools came from the manufacturer with
metric dimensions. The flat stock is manu-
factured with SAE dimensions.
1. Assemble the components to form two tools that are
mirror images of each other. See Figure 6.31.
NOTE: Install the bolts so that the bolt heads are on the inside. See Figure 6.31.
NOTE: Note wrapping the parts of the tool that make contact with the idler bracket and the wheel, will mini-
mized the chance of scratching the components while using the tool.
