2-Stage Gear Boxes
To rebuild a 2-stage Gear Box:
1. Remove the Gear Box by following the procedures
described in the Auger Assemblies section of this
chapter.
2. Gently pry out the Fill Plug. See Figure 7.20.
3. Turn the transmission over and drain any oil into an
approved container.
NOTE: The transmission is filled with grease, but
the grease will break down and release its oil
over time.
4. Remove the five screws, that hold the housing
halves together, using a 3/8” wrench. See Figure
7.21.
5. Separate the housings.
NOTE: The housings have silicone sealant on them.
It may be necessary to cut the sealant to
separate the housings. See Figure 7.22.
