Checking the operability of the glow
plugs (Fig. 15)
If there are difficulties with starting the
engine in the winter period of operation:
There can be two types of faults in the glow
plugs: internal short circuit causing the fuse
to blow out, or open circuit.
The operability of the glow plugs can be
checked by means of an ohmmeter: the
resistance of the operable glow plug rated
at 12 V at the temperature of 20°С shall be
0.4-0.6 Ω and that of the plug rated at 24 V
at the temperature of 20°С – 2.0-2.5 Ω.
