basically
the
same
as tor
the DG
300 EtÄN;
however, please
note
the
lollowing
dilf
erences:
Leading
edges
The
leading
edges
olthe
wing
and wingtip
extensions
are factory
fitted,
and machined
to
approximate
section.
You
only need
to round
off edge! (using
a
small razorplane)
and
sandtothecorrea
noseproiile
(using
a
long
sanding
block). The
procedure
is
the
dame
as lor
thetailplane:
see
the
cross_sections
on
the
building-instruction.
Wingtips
and
tip extentions
Seal
one
end
ot all lour
4
mm
diameter
brass
lubes
(use
solder,
or
crimp
with
pliers).
Fit
lwo
tubes
into
each main
wing
panel,
between
the reinforcements
al
lhe tront,
and in
the
recess
al the rear.
Fit
the
3 x 120
mm
steel
dowles
into
the
tipextentions.
and
plug
lhe
extentions
into
the
wing.
Check
that
the
$rrfaces
line
upcorrectly,
and make
anyadjustmenls
thal
are necessary.
The
brass
lubes
can now
be
epoxied
into
lhe wings.
please
note
that
they
should
project
by about
3 mm.
plug
in
the
tip exüntions,
check
alignment
again,and
allow
the resin
to
set
"ard.
Whenthe
epoxyhas
set hard,
use
a
flat
sanding
block
to sand
backthetip
ribs flush
with
the wing
skins, with
the
plug
-
in
extentions
in
place.
Bend
lhe steel
dowels
into
a
gentle
"S"
shape,
so that
they
are
an
interterence
fit
in
the
tubes.
This will
pevent;that
the
tip
extentions
shifting in
flight..
Cul to lenght
the
tip
blocks lor
the
exlenlion
panels

glue
them
to the
eltentions
and
sandthem
smooth.
Thetip
shape is
no longer
an_
gular.
Cut
to lerqth
the tip
btocks
forthe
main
wing
panels

and
marktheposition
of the
brass
tubes
on the
block.
Drill
4 mm
holes
about
10
mm
deep,
taking
care
to drill
at
the
@rrect
angle.

The
steel
dowels
can now
be
epoxied
into
the
tip
exlentions.
Sandpaper
the
dowels
to
provitle
a key
tor
the
clue,
apply
epoxy
to
the hoies
in
the
tio
extentions,
and
pushthedowels
in. Fit
the
extention;
lo
the wings
again,
and
check
alignment
once more.
Drillthe
holeswhere
ma
(ed
inthatibribs
1,5mmply,
and
check
that
they lit
mrectly
over
the tubes.

one rib
lo
the tip
of
the main
wirE
panel,
lape
it in
place,
and let
the
glue
harden.
Sand
back
lhe end
ot
the
brass
tubes
flush
with
lhe rib,
then fix
the second
tip rib
to the fißt
usirE
smal
pieces
of doubl+sided
tape.
Apply
epoxy
to the
root lace
of
the
tip exten_
tions,
plug
lhe
extentions
into
the main
wing,
press
lhe
two.
panels
together,
and
apply
aOnesive
tape
across
the
iojnt.
lt is
important
to check
that
no
epoxy
gets
inside
the
brass
tubes.
Roughen
up
one
end
of the
g
x
60 mm
locatino
dowels,
and fitthem
intothe
brasstubes,
leaving
onö
end
proiecting.
Fit
the
tip
block
on the
dowels,
and lile
out
the holes
if
necessary;
the
lip block
should
be
a
snug
and
accurate
tit.
Apply
tape
over
the
tip rib,
to
prevent
thetip
block
becoming
stuck
permanently
to
the wing.
Pierce
the
tape
at
the tube
positions,
änd
insert
the locating
dowels.
Apply
epoxy
to
the holes
in
thetip
block,
fit
the
btockonto
thedowets,
and
tape
the
block in
ptace.
When
the
epoxy
has
set haid,
carelully
prise
the
tip
block
away
from
lhe wing,
sliding
athin knile
btadebetweenthe
block
and
thetip
fib.
Removelhetape,
titthetib
block
again,
and
sanä
it
lo
section,
again
using
a
long
sa;ding
block.
lt
should
be flush
with
the
wing
surlace
on
both
sides.
Using
the wingtip
extentions
Thetipextentions
irrcrease
the litting
area
otthewing,
at the
expenseof
a slight
irnrease
in
drag. fhe
bngöi
span
version
offers
an
advantage
lor
light
wind
conditions,
distance
flying,
and
thermallingl
For
fast
flying (aerobatics,
strong
winds
änd
slope
soaring)
the
tip
extentions
are
best removed,
and
replaced
with
the
obechitip
blocks.
In
this
configura_
lion
lhe
glider
is
nbre
manoeuvrable,
and its
crüsing
speed is
higher.
