WARNING
Topreventpersonalinjuryand/ordeath,
ordamagetoproperty,whenperforming
maintenanceandrepairstoanyturbocharged
enginewithengineairinletpipingdisconnected,
aturbochargercompressorairinletprotective
shieldshouldbeinstalledovertheturbocharger
airinlet.
Onceeachyearperformacompleteinspectionoftheair
inductionsystem.Inareaswhereroadsaltisused,the
inspectionconsistsofdisassemblingthejointsofeachmetal
componentandinspectingforsaltbuildupthatcancause
particlestoakeoffandentertheenginecombustionchambers.
Ifevidenceofcorrosionisfound(usuallyappearingatthepipe
connections),useawirebrushtocleantheinsideofthepipes
andinsideoftherubberhoses.
Becertainthatnoexcessmaterialthatcanbepulledintothe
engineisontheinsideofthepipe.Iftheserviceconditionofthe
pipes,hoses,orclampsisquestionable,replacethoseparts.
•Checkforloosehosesandclamps.
•Checkforruptured,bulging,orcollapsedhoses.
•Checkaircleanerhousingforcracks.
AirRestrictionGauge
Theairrestrictiongaugeindicateshowmuchengineaircleaner
ltercapacityhasbeenusedandhowmuchltercapacity
remains.Itmeasuresmaximumrestrictionofthelterelement
whentheengineisoperatedatfullloadandlocksatthat
point.Thisfeaturegivestheoperatorthecapabilityofreading
maximumrestrictionwiththeengineshutdown.
Thegaugeismountedontheforwardsideoftheaircleaner
housing,orasanoptionalpop-upmessageontheinstrument
cluster.
Itisrecommendedthattheoperatornotresetthegaugeuntilit
hasbeendeterminedifaircleanerserviceisrequired.
