Thelowandhigh-pressureturbochargersareinstalled
inseriesontherightsideoftheengine.The
high-pressureturbochargerisconnecteddirectly
totheexhaustmanifoldthroughthehigh-pressure
turbineinlet.Theturbineinputofthelow-pressure
turbochargerisconnectedtotheturbineoutletof
thehigh-pressureturbocharger.Thehigh-pressure
turbochargerisequippedwithawastegateactuator
whichregulatesturbochargerboostbycontrolling
theamountofexhaustgasesthatpassthroughthe
turbine.Whenboostdemandislow,thewastegate
opens,allowingpartoftheexhaustgasowtobypass
theturbine.
Freshairfromtheairlterentersthelow-pressure
compressorwhereitiscompressedanddirectedinto
theInterstageCooler(ISC).Cooledcondensedair
fromtheISCentersthehigh-pressurecompressor,
whereitisfurthercompressedanddirectedtothe
High-PressureChargeAirCooler(HPCAC)mounted
nearthecoolingmodule.Cooledandcondensedair
thenowsdirectlyintotheenginethrottlevalve.
