If the encoder ribbon ever breaks, your workstation stops moving documents
and displays a message on the workstation screen. Go get the following
supplies:
• a pair of scissors
• a roll of transparent adhesive tape
Swing the hinged encoder door up to the right until it stays open. Then follow
these steps to repair the ribbon.
1 Push forward on the take-up spool to wind the used ribbon on to it.
2 Lift out the roll of used ribbon on the take-up spool and set it aside.
3 Push the green latch to the right, then up, to unlatch the print head.
4 Tip the track end of the print head down.
